My bf had planned this "all out" 2 day mini-CP vaca for us. I knew no real details except we were staying at Breakers.
On way to Sandusky Wednesday bf knew to stop at Hardees in Bucyrus where we chowed down on a couple of major cheeseburgers (forget frisco burgers-you gotta try their 6.95 burger for 3.95-or is it the other way around?)
Yummy! Arrived in Breakers parking lot around 3pm. I can not put into simple words on how beautiful Breakers is and our room-
AWESOME!!! Facing the beach was a special "extra" bf neglected to tell me about, he thought I would be happier facing the park, but beach view was just fine with me! :)
We headed into the park and I was quite content just walking around, taking in the sights, screams and smells. We could
NOT just walk past my baby so hopped on for a quick flight. OK-not so quick-long line, sweaty people, heat, more heat-blech! I am totally spoiled rotten on the wait times I am used to (
WHAT wait times?? ;)) but 50 minutes later we got our flight in (yes seat 8-1 for me!) Funny thing was thanks to the Talon power riding last week, after the invert I beared the
WRONG way for the cobra roll-oops!! :) Talon is awesome but gotta say here again that Raptor rules BIG time (and I
NEVER EVER said I liked Talon better than Raptor-different ride!) I had forgotten how much I missed my baby, he was
FLYING! A couple ride ops reconized me and even announced over the platform speaker, "look there's Raptor Jo!" BF not very happy about
THAT but that was just the 1st of
MANY "sightings" he had to contend with during our visit. Over to WT, while waiting he kept chickening out, but got him on it anyway. An hour wait too with more sweaty people. Blech! Back row of course, he screamed like a girl and cursed like a sailor but survived. Refused to ride it again, but survived! ;) He saw Mr Skyward hanging out by Raptor (gasp yes I know) and said to me, "hey-isnt that that guy you guys talk about-why dont you go say hi?" I grabbed my bf and pulled him away before Mr Skyward saw me. The last time I saw him and talked to him he was
ALL over me, thought we should skip that this time! Mr Skyward successfully dodged...we then decided to ride the non-coaster rides so we rode tons of those then headed back to Breakers. We had dinner at TGIFs, walked along the beach to Maggies pretzel turn all the way to WT, watched CP close for the night.
Thursday morning...thanks to not getting to sleep till way late overslept-
doh! No early resort rides for us :( After breakfast we headed into the park and noticed it was
WAY hot already (still?) and it looked like the park was going to be way packed. I
HATE when I'm right about something!!
Got bf on MF, MS, Gemini, Paddlewheel Excursion and by 1pm the heat was just disgusting. BF had another surprise in store for me because he had bought discount Soak City tiks in anticipation of the heat. OK-Jo doesn't swim and Jo doesn't do bathing suits. He had told me to be sure I packed my bathing suit, and I did, which consists of a sports bra and a pair of guys swimming trunks. We changed in the hotel and he was like "wth?" when he saw what I had changed into. Off to Soak City we went. I must admit that it was
ALOT of fun, and the water was a welcome sight. Despite being very crowded it was never too crowded that we couldnt do something. I especially enjoyed being so close to Maggie and still being able to hear the screams from those riders. I didnt do the water slides (don't swim remember?) bf did though and enjoyed them tons. So for me it was basically getting in the water to cool off, back out to lay out, for my bf it was his way to show off he could swim and I can't. (I can still ride a horse better than him though-so there!!! :)) Now back to the bathing suit issue. After seeing some of the bathing suits some of these woman had on I could have EASILY worn a bikini. My bf made summed it all up when he said "I didnt think they made spandex that big!" So I did feel kind of stupid in my make shift, hide the fat gettup I had on. So next Soak City visit? Bikini for me!
NOT!! Just kidding :)
Now the major prob we kept running into at Soak City was no sleeves on me obviousely so people were constantly asking me if my tattoos were real (12 of them) 5 people reconized me from the Discovery Channel show thanks to them. Yea, that went over real well with the bf. I didn't bother to tell him about the people who stopped and talked to me while he was busy sliding and showing off, including a couple I met at Cyclones b-day party 2 weeks ago. Dodged out of Soak City before storm hit, changed went to beautiful downtown Sandusky for dinner. Red Lobster-Yummy!!! :) OK back to park. Goodness the lots were
PACKED, there was something cool about showing our Breakers paper "pass?" thingy and just going on our merry way. We headed to the beach around 9pm with all the other 10 gazillion people. We could have easily watch the fireworks from the room! Listening to so many "ewws" and "ahhs" was funny as heck, and the occasional breaks was kind of annoying. But the smoke was real bad (man I hate that smell almost as bad as the smell from the CP trains-blech!!!) I will admit the show wasn't as intense or long as last years but it was quite good. So-while most all the other people had to tolerate getting out of the park, we simply crossed the sand, up the stairs, into TGIFs for a couple drinks and into room to crash. Despite not being my "typical" CP visits hanging with my CP buds and riding every ride a gazillion times, I really did have a great time. My bf managed to spend pretty much every dime **I** won in purses during our last horse show circuit-go figure
THAT! I can easily understand now why CP loves their "regular" guests, you can spend
quite alot of $$ during your visit. I almost fell over when I saw the Breakers bill! That was
NO Econolodge!! I was really impressed by Soak City, it was really alot of fun and as well run as CP is itself! On trip home yesterday morning bf said "ya know I just knew you knew alot of people but had
NO clue how many people know YOU or OF you!" He had NO clue how many other people I saw that I knew but didn't walk up to them! What can I say, I'm a star!! :)
