I enjoyed spending yesterday at Cedar Point with my father, my two nephews (11 and 14) and my daughter (8)
The good:
Cedar Point looks great as usual - this was my first trip in two years, and seeing the park always gives me an adrenaline rush and lets me know what I fun day I will have.
Disaster Transport - I like the new entrance for the ride, it lets you skip walking through all of the unthemed rides. The part of the line left actually looks pretty good. The theming in the ride itself looked the best I have ever seen it. It was nice to see all the effects lit up and the star field was really neat (the last time I rode it, I only remember pitch black)
Magnum - This is still a favorite of mine, I guess that I must be more tolerant of rough rides than others because I hear the roughness complained about but I just don't see it as being a rough ride and everyone always seems to smile when they are riding.
Gemini - I got my daughter to ride Gemini and she loved it. She was intimidated by the first hill, but once we started, she fell in love. She cracked me up when she put her hands up and started cheering for our train to win. We ended up riding it three times.
Mean Streak - Again with the rough rides, I think that Mean Streak feels bumpy, but more importantly it feels wild and out of control. I really like the ride it gives even though I wouldn't mind it being a little smoother. It is not a ride that I will go on over and over, but riding it yesterday reminded me why I still like to go on it. Plus, I didn't hear the squeak that I remember from the past.
Thunder Canyon - We all had fun on this one. I hadn't been on it in a long time but introducing it to my daughter was hilarious. We got soaked and it felt great in the hot weather! The water didn't seem to stink like I remember from the past.
Midway Market - I think that it is one of the best food deals in the park. We had a great lunch / dinner type meal at around 3:00.
Of course there were a lot of other great things, but these were the stand outs for me.
The bad:
Shoot the Rapids and Iron Dragon both seemed to be shut down for the entire day. Shoot the Rapids must be a complete lemon. I've never seen Iron Dragon shut down that much before.
I'm out of time, so maybe I'll have more later.
...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
It sounds like you had a great trip. I do agree that Disaster Transport has been running its best with the scenery in a while. I do like the new entrance. They actually started this in 2009 so they could just leave the HalloWeekends attraction up. Were they selling any type of glow in the dark toys when you were in line?
