July 26 and 27 2008

Arrived at Cedar Point around 2:30 on July 26, 2008 for Day 1 of our annual trip up to CP. The park was absolutely jammed packed on this day. The rumor of 65k in the park was most likely true. Although it was packed I never waited more than 1 hour and 30 minutes, which was for Maverick. I give Kudos to Cedar Point for keeping the rides up and the lines constantly moving. I started the day off with a 55 minute wait for Magnum XL 200. Great ride and I can only hope the Hyper coaster Kings Island is getting has just as much if not more airtime as Magnum does. Then it was off to Maverick. After Maverick we headed towards Mantis and saw the sign said 1 3/4 hour wait, so we decided to go ahead and wait it. Mantis actually on took about 1 hour and 15 minutes to wait. We then went on and waited about 20 minutes on Iron Dragon. After Iron Dragon, my family and I were getting hungry so we went to the Game Day Grille, this was around 8:25. It was about a 30 minute wait so my dad and I decided to go and do Blue Streak and Calypso since both looked to be walkons, and they were. I never realized Blue Streak was that rough. After dinner it was about 9:25 so we went over to the Iron Dragon midway and watched the Fire up the Night show. After the show we did a night ride on the Wicked Twister in the second row. After Wicked Twister the park was ready to close and so were we, we headed back to our motel.

Day two began for us at 9:00 AM with our platinum passes getting us ERTs on Raptor, Millenium Force, Maverick, and Sky Hawk. In that one hour we did Raptor, Millenium Force, and got in line for Maverick, about 5 minutes before the GP. After Maverick we did the little Antique Caddillic cars beside Maverick. After our little stroll through the area ad no wait, we decided to try out Sky Hawk since it had no line. This ride is better than it looks, but it needs to go longer than it does. After Skyhawk we also hit up the Cedar Creek Mine Ride, this was only about a 10 minute wait. After this my dad knew some people and got us a free lunch out by the beach at the Coral Courtyard. So we stayed there up until 1 PM, then we decided to hit up the All Wheels Extreme show, GREAT SHOW. My only complaint is the skateborder guy really did not do anything spectacular like everyone else did. But only CP can take extreme sports and make it into a show, instead of a bunch of kids just doing whatever they feel like. After this show I felt like I needed to get some Airtime so we hit up Maxair. Being from Kings Island I have to admit that this put Delirum to shame. Maxair was just great. We waited about 30 minutes for it. After Maxair I still had not had enough of the sky so we went towards Top Thrill Dragester. Since the opening of TTD I had never seen the line so short. We waited about 50 minutes to ride TTD. Although it is only 17 seconds long it was worth the wait. We had 3rd row seats and it was amazing. After TTD we headed over to Demon Drop, since you never know when your final Demon Drop ride will occur. We waited about 15 minutes for the ride. After Demon Drop we went over to the Centinenal(sp) Theater and watched that Signed, Sealed, Delivered show and it was as well a very good show. I really didn't like that style of music but will say it was a very good show. After this we were tired and decided to leave the park and get dinner and start our 3 1/2 hour drive home. It was about 4:30 when we left CP

You thought Blue Streak was rough? I've only ever had nice smoothrides on it (I don't count the one time I sat in the very back row; bigmistake). I also have to agree with you on the Signed Sealed show; Idon't really care for that type of "sock hop" music but the singing anddancing choreography was pretty impressive. As for hoping the new 2009KI coaster will have as much airtime as Magnum, that will be quite afeat to beat, I think. Good TR!

Thanks for the comments, maybe it was just the seat I had or something. I always remembered Blue Streak as a smooth ride to, but the ride on Saturday night really just beat me up. Also one can dream for 2009.

Sounds like you had a great time. 55 minute wait for Magnum? I don't think that I have ever waited in Magnum's line for that long. It must've been really packed that day.

"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"

You found Blue Streak rough? I don't think I've heard anyone say that before. Good thing you didn't mention in your report riding Mean Streak. I don't want to know what you'd think of that if you found blue streak to be rough!

Like Jesz said 55 minutes for Magnum is a long time, I think the longest time I've waited for Magnum was a 20 minute wait on Opening Day all the others have been 10 minutes at most.

As for Blue Streak it can be a little rough but otherwise for a wooden coaster it's not bad. I think that SonOfBeast#1 needs to go and ride Mean Streak and he'll find Blue Streak very smooth! :)

Sounds like you had a good time except for the waits!

Speaking of MS (sorry to go off topic a little), I was there on the 27th as well and MS was extremely disappointing. Our train went SO slow over the first hill it felt like it was being braked. Didn't even feel like we would get through the first turn around. Anyone else mentioned this at all? I am a hardened veteran of MS and never have I experienced this.

Geauga Lake today and forever.

The first hill on Mean Streak has been trimmed... or braked. It was putting to much strain on the structure and required to much maintenance so they slowed it down.

^^ - I'm not sure how you couldn't have experienced that. I think only once or twice over the last few years have I had a ride that WASN'T trimmed on the first hill.

I have a totally fool-proof way to avoid trimmed rides on MS - I don't ride it.

O I am use to rough wooden rollercoasters, come on I am a Son Of Beast fan, but I had been on Mean Streak and Blue Streak before and never remembered Blue Streak being that rough. I wanted to go on Mean Streak but it was closed all weekend. I never saw it even run

That's surprising. Usually Mean Streak is very reliable. Anyone know if it's back up and running?

Closed all weekend? I don't think so. I was there on Sunday and rode Mean Streak.
