July 1st weekend

Hey guys this is my first post, I've been a long time lurker on these forms though haha.
Anyway I was wonder what kind of crowd I could expect for this Friday, any estimate would be greatly appreciated

I don't know why but the park has been really dead recently. Sunday pretty much everything besides valravn and Maverick was under 30 minutes. My friend said that today was the same.

SV ruins all other rides.

Other than Saturdays, June is always like this. The CP summer season, for me, is always broken up into two halves, "before July 4th" and "after July 4th." The crowds always start out slow, and after the 4th the place just gets mobbed until the 8pm close weeks return at the end of August.

I agree. I would expect slightly higher, but not terrible crowds on Friday due to the incoming holiday weekend.

For the rest of the weekend and beyond, things are going to get quite a bit busier.

I agree with what Cartwright said. The really busy part of the season is July and the first two weeks of August until the 8PM closes come back.

Holiday weekend crowds are hard to predict. It certainly isn't likely to be walk on city, but sometimes I think they hype things up with promotions so much (free/discounted admission for military and their families, cook outs, fireworks, etc) that every assumes it will be mobbed and they stay home. I've been there memorial days, labor days and 4th of Julys that have been surprisingly not busy. It's just hard to predict. With these midnight closes, a lot of times the park doesn't really fill up until late afternoon so you can still do a bunch in the morning if you get there at a decent time.

This is interesting. I have always experienced low crowds in July. Granted I go on week days but I have never seen the park very busy in July.

CP Top 5- 1)MF 2) Maverick 3) Gatekeeper 4) Top Thrill Dragster 5) Raptor

I find it to be the opposite. I'd rather visit on an early June Saturday than a mid to late July weekday.

This is just anecdotal, but I usually find July crowds to be manageable. I haven't gone on July 4th before, so I can't speak for that. But usually most of July Sunday's are decent. The weeks I usually avoid are the last week of July and first 2 weeks of August. I've found those weeks to be a zoo in the past.

Yep, July is hit and miss but the first two weeks of August are usually pretty bad, at least that's been my experience last few years.

August is busy until the later of the month. The 10 - 8 hours starts again on August 22nd. Yes, they are shorter days, but not as crowded as the beginning / middle of the month. Kids are back in school with football, band, soccer, and other school activities.

Parking lot and midways are looking pretty empty today - like below average I'd say. It's so hard to predict.

Park looks super dead tonight- and they are featuring fireworks on the beach starting tonight and every night through the 4th.

King's Island doesn't even look like its open.

Fairly short lines all day. It's been great!

Want to add that the muffle heads arrived last night after dark in hoards.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are muffle heads?

Oh, I've always called them either midges or mayflies.

Or Canadian soldiers.

About holidays like the 4th. Just look at the calendar and see when it falls. The day of the week absolutely determines when and if the park will be busy. This year the holiday is on Monday. So most folks have Monday off and if they take vacation days for visits to places like CP it will be that week, not the one before. That information serves to explain why last week was "dead" and next week will be considerably busier. I think...

Really surprised how dead it was both today and yesterday... Had I of known, we probably would have made the trip!

After the mess with crowds other July 4th weekends, I avoid like the plague.

That's the middle of the week so maybe it won't be quite so bad but still, you guys got me scared now XD Oh well, 3 days at my happy place are always gonna be enjoyable, lines or no lines.
