I went to Cedar Point with let’s just generalize and say there all my cousins because to list off how their all related to me would be way to long. Also I’m sure this report will be filled with grammar fails and spelling mishaps but oh well. So the plan was that we were all to go last year so I was all excited to go but then my aunt got pregnant and we called off the trip. That was a huge disappointment but they said we would go this year. So there was a lot of time building up to this trip. I went total geek mode and read just about every trip report and knew just about everything there was to know. We live in Minnesota so it was quite the drive. We left on June 30th which was a Monday. We drove eight hours and then stayed at a hotel. There was a newborn traveling with us so we had to make lots of stops. We stayed at a hotel that night and almost got hit by a tornado! The power went out in the hotel and never came back on until we left. We drove the last of the 6ish hours to get there. We had tickets for past 5 for the star light admission. It could have been 6 but I don’t remember. We got there and meet up with the rest of my “cousins” We stayed in the new cabins at Light House Point which by the way were super nice.
So we got into the park and being that the closest ride to the back entrance was the Magnum we hoped right on. It was about a 10 minute wait and my “cousin” and I sat in the third row. I enjoyed that ride a lot more than I thought I was going to. The first drop was really fun and the pretzel turn around was quite the experience. My aunt and uncle and been a couple of years ago and the TTD was broken down so they wanted to make sure they got on it so we went on it next. I think it rained earlier in the day because there was not much for waits. We probably only waited about half an hour for TTD. So my “cousin” and I sat in the back row which was not a good idea. We don’t get too scared of rides but this is one scary ass ride. Sitting in the back it was hard for us short people to see the countdown lights. (That was before we realized they have giant ones on the supports). So we had no idea when this was going to shot off and when it did let’s just say we weren’t expecting it. I have never felt such an amazing feeling as that acceleration. I had heard people say to really experience the dragster you have to ride it a couple of times. I mean it is over before your body can even register what happened. After that we dragged our shell shocked bodies over to the corkscrew. Personally I hate that ride. I have been on the one at Valley Fair which gives me a major head ache so I sat this one out. At this point one of the people in our group wanted to cool off so we decided to head to the back of the park for the water rides. We hit up shot the rapids first which was a nice ride but we didn’t get to wet. We were less than satisfied with our amount of wetness so we tried out the thunder canyon. Talk about a long queue line! Holly cow that took forever! So there was no line what so ever and we just hopped on with two other people. *Note to everyone*, when they say that you get wet there not lying. We got so drenched and since we couldn’t get any wetter and there was no one waiting to get one they let us go again. We got off the ride soaked to bone and slipped and slid our soaked body’s over to the Snake River falls. Also no line, we were the only ones on the ride. Some of the “cousins” sat out the ride and were anxious to get on one right away so we hit up the next closest ride which was Sky Hawk. An S&S screaming swing is always a good time. We went on it twice and let’s just say I feel bad for whoever had to sit on our seat after us. We got them a little wet. Then we went on the oh so fun and thrilling Cedar Creek Mine ride! I don’t see why that doesn’t win the golden ticket award! Jk it’s boring but I did appreciate it for what it was. My “cousin” and I went on the front seat of the Mean Streak and let me just say this, that ride is mean in every worse possible way. DON’T GO ON IT!! Someone said the “re tracked it” I’m calling BS on that one. It was starting to get a little later at this point so we started to work our way back to the Magnum exit. On the way we stopped at the Gemini. They only had one train running but it was still an enjoyable ride. At this point not so thrill seekers headed back to the cabins and the rest of us wanted to do Top Thrill one more time. The line was even shorter than before. This time we sat near the front and it was just as thrilling as before. My only complaint was that they let the station get way too crowded and it’s really hard to figure out where you are going to sit because there are just way to many people. But I did really like how they had someone one the mic telling jokes and little facts about the ride. We then headed back to the magnum and by this time it was past 10 but we saw the line was still open so we jumped in in just the nick of time. It was just as fun as before. We went back and got some much needed food and sleep.
Since we stayed in the park we got to enter early! We did most of the back of the park before so we went right for the front. I was all for sprinting all the way but the 40+ member of our group disagreed and what seemed like to me walked slower than turtle in molasses. We FINALLY got to the Gate Keeper and this was my first experience on a winged coaster so this was much anticipated. There was no line what so ever so we hoped in the third row! It was so cool, I loved the first drop and I actually thought it was not as forceless as everyone complains about. Just the restraints got way to tight and it was uncomfortable when waiting to unload. We then went on the right side more toward the back. My biggest regret was that I never waited for the front. So by the time we got off it was almost 10 so we decided to pick up our pre ordered fast lane passes. I know some people may not be a fan of them because of the price but this is the only time I’m coming here in a long time so I would rather cut the wait time down whatever the cost. But I remember a couple years ago when I looked into it they were only like $34 buck! So after we got the most expensive bracelet I have ever worn we saw that the wind seeker was open so we headed over. Knowing that ride closes a lot and never have been on one I made sure we hit it up right away. Then some of the group went on the Wicked Twister. I sat it out because I have been on the Steel Venom at Valley Fair and I don’t like the twisty side so seeing as there were two twisty sides I gave it a big fat no. Not being into spiny I sat out the MaXair as well which we hit up next. Then we headed across the midway to the Raptor! This is when I noticed my major complaint with the fast lane. It only brings you close to the station so you have to still wait a little while. I’m sure if anyone has read this far they are probably thinking who is this little kid complaining about a 10 min wait when the rest are waiting for 2 hours. First off they didn’t spend 90 bucks and when I was at KI the fast lane brought you right up to the station. Still it was better than 2 hours. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Raptor and they really pump people in and out of that station. And it was my first B&M invert so it was pretty cool. Then we meet up with the rest of the crew at the Blue Streak and got on that bumpy neck breaker. We were convinced to ride the back because of the better air time but it was just so painful it was not even fun. I’m sure it’s better if you ride the front but yeah I will pass on the back next time. We then rode the race cars which was nice and relaxing. We had been in the park for a while now and still had not hit up the ride I was most looking forward to which was Millennium Force. Again the fast lane only brought us close but still it was better than what it could have been with no fast lane. I really enjoyed the music and the station. I sat in the second row and boy was that one hell of a ride. Holly crap that was fun, I still dream of that first drop. So by this time we went back to the cabin for a lunch and a half an hour nap.
We then went back and decided to head to the Maverick. We stopped at the new Gemini midway and rode some stuff which I elected to sit out. We then made it to Maverick and again the same fast lane complaint. We sat in the front and boy was it worth it! That ride is so cool and I loved all of it, well most of it. The restraints sucked so much! It got pushed down on my lap and just crush me thighs. But for sure my favorite part was the launch in the tunnel! So cool! Then we took the train to the middle of the park and hopped on the Iron Dragon. There was no fast lane for it so it was by far the longest wait of the day. We took the front and it was way worth it. It felt like you were flying through the trees. Then we hit up Millennium Force again and again just as crazy. Then we went back to the back of the park and went on the maverick again. We then went to the cabin to get food for dinner.
Then on the way back into the park we took a shuttle bus to the front of the park. I really like the front entrance and the Gate Keeper towering over everyone. Speaking of the Gate Keeper we went on that for the third time. We were on the last train before it broke down and had to wait on the brake run! It was weird because you expect it slow you down but we just stopped and it was a little shocking. We then went to the power tower and did the shot down side which was nice. Then we went on the Top Thrill for the last time. We only had about a half an hour so we did the only logical thing and went to the Millennium Force for our last ride. I had read many times not to ride the front at night but it was my last chance for the front so we took it. BAD IDEA!!!!!!! We were plastered with bugs the whole time and I ate a million of them and had to cover my face the whole time. It felt like I was being shot with a bb gun. We just had enough time to ride it one last time and were able to watch the fireworks while waiting. We decided to go for the back and let me tell you that it the best by FAR! The combo of no bugs, night time, and the back was just amazing. I felt a little like blacking out at the bottom of that drop! We then hopped on a shuttle and went back for a great night sleep! We got up in the morning and left to our Grandmas house in Indiana. It was such a fun time and can’t wait to go back! Also if you read it all the way to this point give yourself a nice pat on the back and I thank you for sticking through it! You a star!
