July 13th & 14th

The whole point of my trip this time was for relaxation. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing when I checked my e-mail on Thursday and saw Cedar Point was offering 10% off at Breakers for platinum pass holders. I was stressed at work and had a few days off coming up so I booked my room for Sunday.

I got there around 9:10 on sunday morning. I was just planning on spending 2 days at the waterpark but I decided to get there a little early to get in a few quick rides. I wanted to be there for 9, but was just a little wait. Once I drove around back to the Breakers parking lot and got into the park it was about 9:25 so I just decided to get in line for Dragster because I knew the line would be so long later that I wouldn't want to wait in it. I've only been on it once before about 3 years ago (mostly because I was with people who wouldn't go on it, or it was down). This time I decided I wasn't going to leave without going on it at least once, so I made it my first of the day. Got on the 2nd back train (4th ride overall) and it was great. I thought about going on again, but the line was already long. They started the ride about 9:45 so I was off before 10 and made my way to Millenium. I sat 2nd last car and was probably the worst ride I had on there. I usually like the back of the trains the best, but I found it really bumpy and rougher than usual. It also seemed to be moving really slow. I never felt the train going up the 3rd hill coming out of the tunnel moving that slow ever.

After that I took a quick ride on maxair, wicked twister and then magnum. This was my second time on magnum this year, and maybe it's just me, but it seems to be a lot rougher and bumpier than it has in past years. Almost to the point where I didn't find it that enjoyable. I usually ride with my arms up, but was holding on just to stop myself from being jerked around so much.

After that I made my way to Soak City. Started off at Renegade River (think that's what it's called, the lazy river with all the waves and waterfalls). Usually I'm there with someone and we're playing around and pushing each other in the waterfalls, but it's not as enjoyable as when you're just trying to relax in the sun and keep getting splashed by falling water. I got out and spent some time on a lounge chair and then made my way over to the Mainstream lazy river. This was more enjoyable and I spent the next 3 hours floating around.

Around 4:30 I checked into the room. It was in the old section with a lakeview. Then I took a quick drive to go pick up my Chet & Matt's pizza since they don't delive to Breakers. Around 7 I took a quick trip back to Cedar Point. Rode Skyhawk, the 2nd half of the train ride, and Blue Streak. I have to admit, blue streak it a great little ride, with good airtime. I like the cushiony seats, they need those on all the rides, makes it more comfortable when you're hitting the seat after being lifted up from air time.

Went back to the hotel after that, stopped to pick up my double scoop of ice cream from Beaches & Cream and ate on the patio overlooking the lake. After that it was time to go back to the room. Spent some time watching Dr. G: Medical Examiner on discovery health and fell asleep. One thing I didn't like about the room: the sheet covers. Instead of having a fitted sheet on the mattress they had this white cotton like fluffy sheet thing (I can't even really describe what it was like, does anyone who stayed there know what I'm talking about?)lying on the bed with a regular sheet over top of that tucked all the way around the mattress to simulate a fitted sheet. Well, let me tell you, it doesn't work like a fitted sheet. Halfway through the night it had come untucked and it and the white thing were crumpled up in a ball in the middle of the bed and I was left lying on the mattress. Other than that, the hotel room was nice, clean, and the bed was comfortable.

I got in line about 8:30 this morning for early entry. Ran my way to Maverick and got the 2nd train. Great ride. Then I got in line for Dragster again. After that Millenium. Today's ride was better than yesterday. Got a quick ride on Skyhawk and then left for Soak City again. I won't bore you with the details, I basically spent 4 1/2 hours floating around the river again. Left with a really nice tan. Around 4:30 I decided to do a few more rides before I left for the day.

I started with Power Tower drop side. This ride scares the s**t out of me every time I ride it. In a good way. I've been on it so many times that I should be used to it by now, but something about it makes my palms sweat on the way up to the point where I can't get a good grip on the shoulder restraints. Nothing gets my adrenaline going better than this ride. I love it! After that I hit up another quick blue streak ride, got my 1 1/2 pounds of fudge from the fudge shop. On my way out I stopped at Mean Streak. Last year I loved the ride, didn't find it rough at all. This year, I've been on it twice and it was so rough it hurt and couldn't wait to get off it quick enough. Guess I just got lucky all 5 times I went on it last year. Don't think I'll hit that one up again this year. I was ready to leave and as I passed gemini opted for a quick ride as my last one of the day.

Pro's: The trip was very relaxing, exactly what I wanted. I skipped long lines since the whole idea of the trip was to go to soak city and I didn't care as much about going on the rides.

Con's: It was crowded!!! I usually go early or late in the year to try to miss the big crowds. Maybe this was normal for this time of the summer, but I'm not used to it. The lazy river was crowded and you'd keep getting caught up in big groups of people linking themselves together. It was still relaxing though, I can't complain. Also, I noticed a lot of the lines weren't opening all the queues and instead had people lining up into the midway. Skyhawk for example: people were lined up out and along the fence of the ride and when you hit the queue you went right through the turnstile to get on. Gemini and Millenium were like this as well when I went on them.

Wait times: I didn't ride much, but here's some times that I saw throughout my 2 days: Maverick, 2 hours (line was out the queue). Millenium, 1 1/2 hrs. Dragster, 1 3/4 hours. Raptor, 1 1/4 hrs. Lines were long and ridiculous. I'm glad I wasn't there for that or I wouldn't have been riding much in 2 days.

Anyone else these days?

That 3 hour long river ride sounds great. They should put cup holders on the tubes so you have a frosty beverage, as well. What did you think of wicked twister? I'm getting mixed reviews of that one.

I'll be back!

My first trip to CP this year I rode Magnum 3 times. The first 2 times it wasn't rough, but the last time it was really rough. I think it all depends on where you sit though. My sister hates Magnum because she thinks it is so rough. This year was her first year riding it.

Before this year I havn't been to CP in about 3 years, so I cannot really compare it to the previous years. But maybe it is rougher this year. I still love it though. :)

^^ I love wicked twister, one of my favourites. I always have to get a ride on it while I'm there. Found it a little bumpier than usual this year, but I'm starting to think it's just me because I was finding everything a little bumpier this year than last. WT, Magnum, Millenium, and MS all seem worse this year than last. Still won't stop me from riding them though!
