Hello everyone!
Been reading a lot of the forum preparing for my trip July 10th and 11th.
So, yesterday was our first day. I'm from LA area in California and have been to Cedar Point 3 times in the past, but not since I think second year of Mantis' operation. The year they added the trim brake on the drop.
Needless to say, there are a few new rides to try out! lol
Day started out looking good, nice and sunny. Humid as I expected. Didn't get to the park until sometime after noon. We got in, I had already purchased Fast Lane Plus a few days before, so, got our wristbands, then headed over to Raptor first. Fun first row ride.
Headed over to Gatekeeper and just as we were about to enter they closed the ride due to the weather report. Bummer.
Headed over to Wicked Twister and waited about 10 minutes. Really enjoyed that ride. I had only been on one other of the same, but much smaller, and it had been a while.
Once we left there, it started raining. Soon after, it really came down. Had to wait thunderstorms and tornado warning for some time. Then, when it finally cleared and coasters started testing, there was an electrical problem and everyone had to wait some more. :(
We headed to the front of the park to check out the store. Soon after saw Gatekeeper begin to run so the electrical problem was fixed pretty fast.
Got into the Gatekeeper line and started with a back row inside ride. Really fun there. But like B&M flying coasters, I'm not a fan of the restraints. Got back in line and rode in the back, but outside of the right side. I thought this seat was really rough. Never got back to try out other seats, but that will happen today. Are the outside seats a lot rougher than inside?
Next, headed to Millennium Force for my first giga. We just started out in the middle somewhere. Love the first drop. The speed it keeps is great. Got back in line and went to the back row. Now i really love the drop. lol The rest of the ride I was a bit underwhelmed, but overall, awesome.
Maverick was next and we sat in the front. I was excited for Maverick until the first twister and I almost took my neck off. Then a few more neck hitting the restraint elements and I was ready for it to be over. I'm definitely going to have to learn how to ride. I can tell how fun it will be once I learn.
Hit Gemini next on the way to Dragster. Think I rode my last ride on that. The was kind of painful.
Then finally to Top Fuel Dragster. 1st ride, back row. Take off is awesome. Twisting drop, a lot of fun. Got back in line and waited for the front. Sunset was getting near so I was excited to ride at night...until we got in the car and I saw the bug debris. :O
I thought, can't be too bad, that's probably buildup from most of the day. Learned I was wrong as soon as the light turned green. Seriously felt like someone was on the side and just tossed a bucket of sand at us as we launched. Covered my mouth and face with my hands and basically had my eyes closed the entire ride. lol
Once we hit the brake run, I could see the damage done to our body and clothes. Now I know what my car grill feels like on a long summer drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. That was pretty disgusting. lol
And that capped off our first day. Today, we will make up for all the downtime of yesterday.
Some of the things I loved about Cedar Point from my trips way back are still true today. The overall attitude of everyone is just great. From guests to employees. Everyone is friendly, respectful and kind.
Still the cleanest park. I come from Magic Mountain, the most disgustingly dirty, run down park anywhere. It may just be normal for most of you, but I appreciate it greatly. You don't see gum on the ground, paper, maps in que lines. It's just clean, and green.
I only wish I live closer. Anyway, even after a shortened ride day, I'd still be satisfied with the overall trip and money spend. Today will just top it all off! Gotta go, I'm wasting ride time!!
