Jobless for good cause

So I went to work the other day and found out that I was terminated because I called off work to go to Maverick's opening day. I donated to the Red Cross so I wanted to go. Funny thing is that it took the place this long to fire me. Weird!!!

All I have to say is that it was worth it!!! What a great ride!

This is idiotic... you cut your job to go to cedar point (something that you can do whenever) and now lost your job as a result and you think that is ok??? Oh my....

Did you lie to your employer, or were you honest in your request?

That probably could have been avoided if you were up-front with them about your reasoning. Employers (see also: humans) are usually appreciative of honesty. Go figure.

Regardless, I'm sure McDonalds will be fine without you. ;)

What department/location did you work at?

Seriously? This long? That is hilarious. +10 cool points.

Well, now that you don't have a job, you could go whenever.

But wait! You need money to go to Cedar Point. Jee, now was it really worth it?

People these days......

My managers won't even let me go for 3 days to ride. If I did'nt need the job so bad, I would have bailed for Maverick's opening day too. Red Cross or not.....

Wow, it truly is obvious how old some of you are. Just wait 'till you get into what we call: real life.

Yes. because we all sit around and wait for you guys to tell us how to live. Is there anyone on this site who can stop being a dick and stay out of posts if they don't like it?

Depending on the job, that is ridiculous. If Coaster Mani work(ed) at a full time job with a decent company, wow. That stinks. However if it's just like a fast food place or something... definitely worth it :oP

I guess its pretty bad in both cases, but hey, at least coaster is happy!

Being a dick? It's called being honest, dude. You don't like it, then go somewhere else. What the guy did was stupid. Especially because he thinks its the most hilarious thing in the world.

And judging from most people who posted here, I'm in the majority.

I hear the Sesame Street message boards can be very friendly, and they even count to ten!

well maybe he thinks its funny because he didnt need the job. besides its just a minimum wage job its not that hard to find another.

It will be if they contact his last employer and find out that he lied to get out of work for a day. Business' don't want employees that lie about being sick to get out of work.

Oh, and you might want to get your keyboard fixed. The shift key seems to be broken.

Actually, I was under the impression that employers were not allowed to give negative reviews of employees' performance. They're either supposed to give them positive reviews, or not say anything at all.
