Job Suggestions?

I'm looking into working at Cedar Point for the 2004 season and have a question.

I like interacting with people as long as they're not complete morons.

I have management experience.

I don't like doing the same thing, over and over all the time. Not to say I don't like any job, just a little variety.

I can only work from late May to mid-August, as I go to college.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what jobs would be best suited for me?

I would say try merchandise its not that bad at all. Yes its not the more popular job but I still think its still awsome. :)

Then I don't think working at CP would be that good of an idea.

;)

Seriously though...most amusement park jobs are very monotonous. You have to make your own fun. Being a Sweep is fun because you get to walk around, talk to people, and you're more in touch with things going on as opposed to someone who works in the same spot all day.

If you are really outgoing try to get a job in games, particularly the weight guessing game. Here you get to really play it up and deal with the guests in a fun environment. You don't have to deal with too many morons.

But you won't make many employee friends...:)

I think the general consensus among employees (at least the ones I hung around last year) is that all weight guessing games should be banished from the park. They are so freaking annoying, and what's worse is they have to be that annoying because it's their job!

For the most part the guests love the guessing games. Why would employees care about them? And, the game folks are pretty tightnight. They don't have to work with the same person for 10 hours straight but they still all socialize.

Sometimes it is a blessing to not be with the same people six days per week.

I worked as an Arcade/Games Mechanic and I loved my job. I got to know tons of people that I worked with and I got to walk around pretty much freely all day. I could go to the restroom any time I wanted. All I did was walk around and fix little things all day. It was great.
Thanks for all the replies. :)
no morons...... well maybe just moronic people - heres an example:

guesser:so what can i guess for you today sir
guest:im 42 and a half
guesser:so what did you want me to guess though
guest:duh my age
guesser:your 42 and a 1/2
guest:DAMN

seriously working in games is crazy fun, you get to bs with a lot of guests and employees, and you can be as outgoing (crazy) and energetic as you want and with the new games area they are building this winter, there will be more games host positions available (i hope). it is really fun to be working a busy mic game with back to back races jumping around everwhere, but when its slow you have to find ways to entertain yourself (just bother one of the friendly maintaience guys)

Hey Brandon I haven't talked to you in a while. I'm glad to say that I eventually got along with you pretty well in the end. Guess who I work with in WV. Your favorite room mate STEVIE!!! I think I am cursed or something. Who knows? I hope to see you again in 2004.
i would have to say the best department to work in would be rides... only prolly because throughout the summer you have the ablity to work on other rides and be apart of their crew even if it is for a week.... even though some guest can make your day and some can ruin it... its still alot of fun, because you can ineract with your crew on a day to day basis.....

If you work rides, you will get variety. Working a roller coaster, if your ride is down, you generally work a different ride. If another ride is short staffed, you sometimes get to work at another ride (Kiddy Kingdom is usually the place!) Some rides have 3 different rides to work, like at Matterhorn Triangle, you work Matterhorn, Scrambler, and Dodgem.

You WILL get morons, especially on rides. "Am I tall enough?", "How long is the line for Magnum?" "What time is the 10 o'clock laser light show?" "When will the rain stop?" "Why isnt your ride running?" "How long is the line?" "Where is Dragster?"

Father.."Your not responsible for my kid, I am, and I say he can ride. I dont know why there is a height restriction anyway. I say he is tall enough.

Kid (crying)..."But dad, I dont want to ride"

My opinion, call security....

other winners:
How Much Is A Dollar Coin Worth?
Where Is The Magnum Force?
Where Is Dragsters Second Hill?
The Last Time I Was Here I Was Tall Enough...
and for my games people:
What The F*** Do You Mean I Have To Knock It Off The Table? (referring to when someone gets all excited after knocking over the cans, blocks, whatever and your supposed to knock them OFF the table)

Flamingoland

At Raptor, "Does this ride go upside down?"

"why do Paddlewheel jokes suck?"

"does the train come back to this station?"

the best i heard at raptor was "is this a water ride" i know it was said at mil force and gemini but i just ignored them-
One of my all time fav's from the stupid questions catagory.....

at disaster transport

Host: I'm sorry we're down due to the rain

Guest:..But you're an inside ride.

Well maybe it's not a question but I hated it

for real...i put up with this quite a bit...as i was working srf...only i got..."well (he, she) was tall enough to ride TC (shorter height requirement) and WWL (height doesn't matter as long as parents are along)...and i am sorry to say that some people put up such a big fuss that the TL sometimes let kids who are too short to ride in all the confusion...sometimes it can be a real hassle
