Johnny Rockets is a place we go to often; we like the goofy attitude in the place, and don't mind the wait to eat. Usually, we are there because we are ready for a nice long break. Burgers are pretty good compared to most burgers at CP---better than Game Day.
Game Day is another place we go to often. Except for the burgers, better food/prices overall than JRs. Can get a frosty BEvERage there. But a sports bar; JR's gimmick goes over better with my family.
Famous Dave's is great. Just great. Love it.
For reasons I don't fully understand, we only seem to get to Macaroni's when it is re-done for Halloweekends. We'll have to try it during the regular season this year.
I've just about given up on Midway Market. The food seems to get worse there every time I go. Good desserts though.
Coasters is a fine stand-by, and perfectly fine counter service, but sometimes I want someone to bring me my food, rather than have to go get it myself.
I'm still hoping something better will come along in the back half of the park. Chuck Wagon is okay, but only okay.
I ate at JR once, and I wasn't too pleased. Of course, I also didn't feel like waiting for my food while the help danced. So that detracted a little bit. If you're looking for something quick, JR is not the place to go.
Coasters is unfortunately nearly impossible to find a seat. They're usually fast enough, but there is almost never a seat open inside. This isn't a problem when its nice out though.
Midway Market needs to be demo'd and re-done.

I agree much to that!!!!! I hated midway market. I guess I'll be the one to test out Macaroni's during the reg. season. ;)
what could they possibly replace midway market with? I vote they tear down the pavilions too.
Why the pavillions?! I think it's a good place for families who bring their own food. Sure theyre not the best looking place to eat, but that can be fixed with some nice paint and new benches.

i didnt mean get rid of them completely. I mean in some form make it look better, even if that means demolition and rebuilding.
since were talking about food anyways.. in the frontier trail have you guys had one of the shakes, omg there so good. (the vanilla shakes w/ a cherry and whip cream) mmmm

In Correct English:
Since we are talking about food anyways, have you tried one of the vanilla shakes in the frontier trail which happen to be made with a cherry and whipped cream? They are so delectable.
;)

Something that doesn't suck.
I vote they tear down the pavilions too.
Doubtful since they are used for off-season rehab.

So build new pavilions that actually look nice. They could still be used for off-season rehab. Just because something is used doesn't mean it has to be hideously ugly.
Midway Market as a location isn't bad, but if you're going to charge what they do, then at least put something out that resembles food. I agree that it seems to get worse every year. I only went once last year, and I used to do it at least a half-dozen times.

Isn't Famous Dave's outrageously expensive as well?
If you have two people just get the Feast for Two. It costs about $30-$35 and you get chicken, ribs, brisket (if you want) corn, beans, fries and cole slaw.
If you have 3 to 6 or even 7 people the have a Feast for that also. It runs about $50 I believe.
Probably your best value on the point, IMHO.

True, maybe if they change the format of Midway Market a little it would work. Personally I think its at a GREAT location in the park.
Regardless of what the opinion is of the food, I think Midway Market does "work" for CP. The format is fine, I bet it's a good money maker. If they upgrade the food a little to make it less like Hometown Buffet, I think many people would be pleased.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

How good is it? I have never been there but wanting to go forever. Wanting to know about the prices mainly...
Great for old fashioned burgers and shakes.Fun atmosphere, but tends to be very crowded and sometimes the lines seem as long as the ones for the Millenium.
I don't mind the buffet format of Midway Market at all---in fact, I like having that option. The food quality has really sunk, though. In particular, most things are over-cooked, and left on the steam tables for far too long. I'd be willing to pay a few extra dollars if they'd rotate the food on the steam tables more often.
I'm usually there when they are relatively quiet. I may have to try it when they are really busy; the food might rotate faster that way. *** Edited 3/28/2007 1:36:05 PM UTC by Brian Noble***
^ - the food may rotate faster, but the service seems to drop way off.
No matter when I've been there, for the price I'm paying (12 bucks apiece for me and my wife) I expect a lot more than what I get. Either it takes forever to get refills, or the food selection is crap, or the food is crap. I've never had a good meal there.
The problem is, I like the idea. A good buffet option makes sense and the location is great. Its just the implementation that needs some work.
