Jay-Pizzie at Cee-Pizzie 8/21/02: WT is BACK!

Time for a little after-work fun with Danny J and the ever lovely Maria at America's roller coast. Arrived a little before six and snapped some photos of the new track. That was unexpected, as Dan and I intended to meet that day anyway. This is Stephanie's week off before she starts teaching/going to school again, so she was home chillin' for the evening.

When I got inside the park at the designated meeting area around Magnum, I was surprised to also see James "I'll-be-21-next-year" Draeger, Jeff "Natalie's Bizatch" Tobe, Hooper and some of the other characters from GTTP/CB. We headed to Wicked Twister, which had a line longer than any of us preferred to wait in.

Over to Raptor, 15-minute wait even on a crowded (I'm guessing 30,000+) day. That's the key... go around dinner time to score Raptor. It's funny how when you haven't been on a ride in a long time that it packs a harder punch than you remember. I got the tingly feeling in my butt several times. Raptor is one of few rides that can still do that to me.

"The second hill is sooooo cool!"

From there we consumed french fries. Dan informed me he had his first cheese-on-a-stick. I informed him he'd have his first heart attack tomorrow. I'll get the hospital address so you can send flowers.

Back to Millennium Force, wait was an hour, so we skipped it.

Off to Mean Streak, mostly to get a look at the stubby tan supports for the new ride. MS was actually running pretty well in the second half, but the squealing in the first half... ugh. Before boarding, Draegs and I noticed a very cute "suicide girl" on the train ahead of us. Nose ring, the right tattoos, the cutest little bob... I so dig that.

We boarded the train to head back up front. I missed my queue to chant "hump that fence" on a full train where the skeleton is, well, humping the fence under Snake River Falls. Sorry, Dan.

We zipped over to Wicked Twister which had a more manageable line. Well, until the ride-op stations locked shut without the ops in them and a fully loaded train. They unloaded the train, ran three test cycles and began boarding again. My guess it that the only thing the mechanics did was Ctrl-Alt-Del.

Here's the good news... Wicked Twister is running at full power again. It's kicking ass and taking names. Getting screwed in the rear never felt so good. What really surprised me this time was the feeling of sudden acceleration coming off the spikes in the second pass forward and back. You could really feel it. I'm convinced now that any of the back six rows are good enough for a great ride. I now regret not getting to ride this thing more.

Back to Chaos, Dan and I rode while Maria and Hooper sat out. The Eastern-European ride op girl was saying, "No ready" because some car wasn't locked down. Of course it was ours. It was kinda hot to hear her say, "No ready," over and over again. If it's not obvious, all of this fresh air was getting to me (and apparently going to my pants).

We finished the night on Magnum, which gave a very smooth and insanely airtimey ride. Very nice night even though it was crowded and I was there for just under four hours.

Of course, no trip to CP would be complete without comments on fasion. What's with the mullets? I mean, they're such a huge joke now that I can't imagine anyone would have them anymore.

I noticed a lot of nose rings too. That's a good trend because that's one of my "things." It's just strange that it has taken this long to catch on. Steph got hers in '97 I think, and while I've seen quite a few in other areas of the country, it hasn't been frequent around here. Good trend.

Sorry had to cut out on you guys early like that! Had a Rockin date at DTE or Pine Knob that night. Great show! Sounds like you all took out our day in style!

Here's the old lady in me coming out...but nose rings remind me of bulls. I just don't see the point (nor do I see the point of eyebrow, belly, or nipple piercing either). Then again, I wouldn't forbid it if my son wanted one. If I learned anything growing up in the 60's, it's not what you look like on the outside, but who you are on the inside. But "ouch!"

And Sparty, I'll NEVER get used to DTE over Pine Knob.

I should mention that I mean nostrils, not septums. I've seen some septum piercings that were OK, but the large gauge ones with captive balls aren't very cool. The girl in question had a small gauge hoop in one nostril (much like the one my wife has been known to wear from time to time, but generally sticks with the tiny stud).

People pierce for different reasons, rarely for "look at me" reasons. I'm surprised it didn't catch on sooner, because it really isn't much different from ears in my opinion. I mean, it has been a normal part of Indian culture for how long?

It seems to have caught on in the Detroit area. I work at a University so I see a lot of piercings, and I agree some look much better than others. Actually, I think the little belly button rings are kinda cute. But some of these kids tend to overdo it a bit, IMO.

I prefer studs, myself *wink*

Was a good time again yesterday. Sparty- How was the show? Wish I could have stayed til close with everyone but that's what I get for the free ride there and back.

And WT... it was so nice to have it back up to giving the ride it should again. One last thing, I may have gotten Dan to take on the cheese on a stick, but I still couldn't get him to try DDR!

Hey Dan glad you're back. Try 2 cheese-on-a-sticks in a row and see what happens. I got a helicopter ride to the hospital. ;) Guess it was serious.

Hey guys it was a great time hanging out with you guys the other day. Kinda wish I made it to WT with you all, but had some family business to take care of. Sorry I didn't get to see you Sparty. Had a great time hanging out with Dan, Jeff, Hooper and the others. Great last ride on Magnum though...I think it would have hurt really really badly if they left the trims off. Man it was flying.

Speaking of of piercings, why does every last person have to ask the same 3 questions when they first see you with one?

1) How long ago did you get that?
2) Did it hurt?
3) Why did you do it?

And if you are under 25,

4) What did your parents think?

James doesn't lie... he REALLY heard that at band camp. People think the whole band camp thing is a myth, but as James and I observed a few weeks back, it's more true than you'd think!

Britney has to be one of the most down to earth, laid-back, most kick ass girls I have ever met. It's a shame she doesn't post here more often.
