Its a bird! Its a Plane! NO! Its Magnum stuck at the top!

Apparently the "no ride-agains" came with the territory of the removal of FreeWay last year.

Speaking of the removal of FreeWay, have they done anything to remove the merge points of FreeWay from the rides? Have they removed the little queue that leads out to the midway?

Yes, it was unique sitting dead-level next to the anemometer on the top of the Magnum lift hill. I was alone in the front seat of the front car of the train, so it was a very cool experience.

Unfortunately, I was having visions of being stuck while canted at a 60 degree angle as the last car in the train hung at the top! Fortunately, that did not happen!

Jerry - you can contact me at bretz251@earthlink.net

Thanks!

The Freeway merge point signs are gone, but the lines (concrete) is still there. The Magnum merge point now has a gate on it (although that didn't stop 25 kids from jumping it on Opening Day). The booths are being used for some random things. One was being used back by Town Hall for measuring kids until Town Hall opened, and another one was being used over by the Toll Booths. The others remain in the storage/maintenance area between Mean Streak and Gemini.

Magnum will always have line jumpers. The queue is just too easy to access from the midway unlike the rest of the major coasters.

Dan

That would be so scary walking down Magnum. Probably the scariest part would be, if you were on the left side, getting out of the train and onto the stairs to go down.

Also, would they still make you get out even if the front part of the train is semi-on its way down?

I finally got that coveted walk down on Magnum!! I was in the 3rd seat of the first car, so I really got to experience the walk. I saw Jerry at the bottom of the ride and he asked me how my walk was!! I am not sure if this is the candy man, but I am guessing by his hair, it could be. COOL!!

If you were in the 3rd seat of the first car, then you might be one of the people in this picture?

Yes that is me walking down the lift in the black Cedar Point jacket. Duh, I was actually in the 2nd seat of the first car on the stairs side. Now I have proof that I did walk down. GREAT!!!

I have to say, I have had worse "stuck on" situtations. And having spent much of last fall going UP the lift hill, I'd much rather just go down the hill if I'm gonna not go over like you're supposed to.

And the company was definitely fun! Row away, Jerry! :)

Rowing is exhausting work!

Top Thrill Nitro Zeus - yep that was me

Unfortunately, I didn't get video of when you walked past at the bottom or you walking down. I got a video with yoiu still sitting in train. Of course it's hard to tell from the back, but you are there.

I HATE Six Flags - the steps actually go over the top and down to the gears. So it's possible to get out there. But that would be a safety concern. I believe the steps are not as close to the track at that point. I would have to say that if it would break down there, they would get it over by one means or another.

It was not the most favorite thing I've ever done. I don't ever want to do it again, but that won't ultmately keep me off the Magnum.

However, if you consider that less than 4 years ago I was twice my present size, and could barely walk with the help of a cane, getting out of that train and walking down most of a 205 ft roller coaster lift hill qualifies as a pretty close to a bona-fide miracle.

But, I still didn't like it.

"would they still make you get out even if the front part of the train is semi-on its way down?"

I noticed that there is a platform about 15 feet below the crest of the hill on the down side. So, if they put the platform there, there had to be a reason. I try not to think about it.

I did it, but I didn't like it.

hey nice pics. you wouldnt happen to have any of some of the first people to get off the train? I was sitting in the back seat of magnum with my two friends behind a guy with a green sweatshirt. we were one of the first people to exit the train. see if you can dig some out. thank you.

im sorry about the double post, but I just realized the man with the green sweatshirt was "Tank." he was siting right in front of me and he was sitting next to a teenager. some guy named phil came out the stairs and told us aobut the problems, then it went up the hill and got stuck again. I remember this is strange. anyways, does anybody have any pictures?

The 11 pictures that I got of the walk-down can be found in this album. I think they mostly show people from the front of the train, but you're more than welcome to take a look.

Well Shawn, if it hadn't been so cold at the top of the hill, I might not have been wearing that shirt, and you would have seen the PointBuzz shirt I was wearing under it! Then we would have struck up quite a conversation!

Unfortunately, not too many people got pictures of the early part of the evac, which is when you and I were coming down!

That is true, It was quite cold up there, but what a view. This goes a little off topic, but after getting over the coaster fear last year and having Maggie become my favorite, It's just too sad that the ride is ageing. But still, even for a noobie like me it's quite a ride!

But what a paint job...;)

shawn - what were you wearing? Did you walk down before Tank or was you behind him. The shots of him are with op Kevin in front of him. Behind Tank was someone with a green Michigan State sweatshirt and next person back had a grey sweatshirt.

I feel so lucky that we were stuck on the track outside the station, and not up at the top with you guys!

I would have died if I had to walk down from up there.

I was the kid with the gray sweatshirt...do you have that picture?
