Raptor is the one problem I can think of, and it's only for a few hours every morning. Plus, CP has a habit of not even opening a lot of stuff in the park until an hour or two after opening anyway.
Besides, I think the fact that people do this only supports my theory. People just want to show up and ride, and Raptor happens to be the first big ride that most people come across. Surely they know there are lots more rides beyond Raptor, and surely they know the line is very long when they enter it, but they still do because it's there. Most guests aren't interested in going to Magnum first and then backtracking half a mile to ride Raptor; they just want to go in one direction and ride whatever they see.
That doesn't support your theory. Can you honestly tell me that you (or "people," if you will) would actually get into a line if you saw a sign that said that wait times were significantly less at other rides? I can't believe that you or any other rational person would do that unless they absolutely had to ride that ride and nothing else before the day was out.

There's really no way to know if it would work at CP until you actually install the signs at CP. I see your point about crowd distribution, and in the case of spreading crowds evenly during the early morning and avoiding chaos at Raptor, it may work. However, this problem with crowd distribution early in the morning has never been so much of a problem for CP that they've put in the signs, so obviously they don't think it's a problem worth solving.
