We were there last Monday, and it was the most crowded we ever saw CP.Even the Gemini had long lines.I have never seen that before.
Cedar Point does not release attendance for individual days. It is possible to guesstimate the attendance based on the fullness of the parking lot, but that is a very rough guesstimate.

Yep...it would be most difficult.A vehicle might have one person,or in a case of a van,as many as 7.Of course, then there are the buses...I have seen the parking lot fuller, but not the park itself.
Things may be different now, but what I'm about to say is how it used to be. And not that long ago either.
The operations office would post a sheet for employees to view that listed ridership for each attraction- not for that day, but for the previous one. The figures were derived from the turnstile count taken at opening then again at closing. The rides were listed in order with CP&LERR usually in the number one spot, then typically followed by Gemini or one of the large capacity shows, then on down the list. Ride ops could check in and track their progress- also try to increase their daily totals and try to surpass a ride that was near them on the list. It got to be a game, or I should say competition, between the crews of rides/attractions with similar capacity, especially on busy days. Try to get as many through as possible.
Also on the list was the total park attendance figure for that day.
So you may not know the day you go, but (if they still post such a list), you might know the day after.
I'll have to check it out next time I'm there- the list was always posted right near the door inside the operations office next to Kiddyland.
I'm the oldest one here. CP emp '73-'74
Might be more people in the park but the queues still always feel shorter to me than the old days when there was just Gemini, Corkscrew, Mine Ride and Blue Streak. (Wildcat excluded)
All queue lines always in use, all trains running and still waiting hours with lines into the midway.
Still can't believe I waited over 3 hours to ride WWL the year it opened. ;-)
Unless the soak city lot is full and they're parking people in the grass outside of the tolls, it's not even close to being their busiest day ever.

Well Jeff,I'll take your word for that, but in that case I am just thankful that I was lucky enough not to be there on that day.Conservatively,I've been at CP approx. 100 times, and last Monday was exceptionally crowded. The most I have ever seen it.Just out of curiosity, how was it on Tuesday.

Few years ago I was there on a day like that, thought I dont know if the soak city lot was full but from space spiral I had seen that they were parked even on the grass down near the causeway and not just the grass at the end of the lot, that is in the grass before you even get to the toll boths. Gemini had a 1 hour wait....Mean streak was about 1 1/2 hour wait. It was horrid.
I wish CP would have a counter on their website that tracked each time a ticket or season pass was scanned on that day so we could see how many people were there. But it would be a high-dollar project for something that would not benefit them at all.

^ I'm thinking that would actually hinder attendance. People go and don't want to wait in huge queues. If they saw attendance was pretty high on a particular day, they'd stay home. That doesn't sound like something Cedar Point would ever want to implement.

Agreed. One complaint that many people I talk to is about the long lines and crowds.
Thrills Around the Corner!
Anyone going to cedar point should almost always expect some decent sized lines. The rides are some of the best in the world. That alone should hint that it's going to take some time to get on them. I agree that there are some days that are just ridiculously packed (i.e. Halloweekends Saturdays) that people [including me] should definitely be unhappy about. But you learn from your mistakes.

Alot of times if the monday falls on the week of a holiday then it will be busy. Plus some schools in Ohio are all year round so you only get a few weeks break between school. That and buses full of kids show up too. Luckly they leave by 3 pm due to some being out of town or out of state.

Would that be Monday the 2nd?

Everyday I go to Cedar Point I walk in the Office and talk with a few people. They tell me that the Buses should leave around 7pm most like everyday with the group.
