If you take a look at this GateKeeper POV video posted yesterday, you'll see a new CP logo (similar to the "new" CP Shores logo discussed here) in the bottom, left corner. Could CP be transitioning into this new logo?
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the new logo if it fits for certain things, as long as the current (green/yellow, blue, red) logo is predominantly used. Though I prefer the current logo, it seems like minimalism is the new trend (e.g. Starbucks, Google, Taco Bell, etc.)
What are your thoughts?
Everyone is going to logos that follow a Material Design look, it's just the trend that works. I can see them going towards this easily though. We already saw a change for Cedar Point Shores, Cedar Fair, and now a new style regarding just Cedar Point in a video, so I'd expect to see more of it.

I find it odd that they just painted the new water tower with the old logo if they indeed are transitioning to the new logo, which appears that way. Unless they decided on the logo change after the fact.
If they are planning on a new logo, it would likely be phased in. Changing it can get quite expensive when you factor in all the signs it's put on. Most of the print material probably hasn't been made yet, so they would probably just start with it on there.

It's basically the current logo in a solid color and new font. It's probably made to go with the modernized CF logo.
Aside from Knott's Berry Farm, it seems like a lot of the Cedar Fair parks cannot maintain a consistent logo

It's damn ugly, especially compared to the "old" logo which conveys an nostalgic amusement park image. The "new" logo conveys generic soulessness.

What? It's not basically the current logo. The color and shape both changed.
They didn't change the name of the company, how much difference would you expect from a text-based logo?
The company did try something similar in the past and didn't last. Here it is on the 2007 marketing brochure:

Both logos are in that video. The 'old' one is in the bottom right corner.

That bottom right logo is not technically part of the video. It's a link that will take you to their channel.

The typeface of this is somewhat similar to the new Cedar Fair logo, though not exactly the same.
Wasn't there talk of a new website happening in the off season? If so, maybe a new logo will be released at the same time.

Material Design is not just a typeface, and even if it were, that's not it, Roboto is.

That "new" logo looks like it's from decades ago. Very generic and boring, and easy to forget.

I still chuckle at some of the Amazement Park and Geauga Lake trashcans that are scattered through some of the backstage areas of the park. Talk about old logos.
This new one looks so plain. Kings Dominion has had a very similar logo but even more bland since the Paramount days.
