Is Shoot the Rapids going to be the same as SRF?

That is Six Flags though. This is Cedar Point where safety is more of a concern. Cedar Point takes safety much more seriously than Six Flags.

Ummm...No

The manufacturer of the ride sets a certain height requirement for the rides. The parks have to at least meet the ride builders recommendation for height, but they can go higher....just not lower.

Coolkid.....

I never said cp was six flags...or disney...or kings island...or michigans adventure. I was just using the height requirements from simular type rides from other parks compared to cedarpoint.

With that said, I do think that cedarpoint is a little high when it comes to the height requirements. That is why we have taken our daughter to six flags more than cp this year. There is just more for her to ride there.

As soon as cedarpoint adds more "bigger type" rides for a 42" tall kid, we will continue to go to six flags more. As soon as she breaks the 48" mark, we will lean more to cedarpoint.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Given the situation with STR, I wouldn't count on CP ever adding family-friendly marquee rides.

So explain why CP's Corkscrew only carries a 48" height requirement, yet Viper at SFMM and Great American Scream Machine at SFGAdv carry a 54" requirement. Does Cedar Point take safety less seriously than those Six Flags parks?

I'm pretty sure that the original manufacturer specified a minimum height requirement on the ride installation. The park enforces that height restriction, or can specify a higher restriction. All of these rides run nearly identical trains, but have different height requirements. It's not a matter of one park chain being safer than the other.

Those rides can barely be compared to corkscrew as they are much much taller and a lot faster than corkscrew with way more to it than a drop a loop and done...

Vortex at Kings Island is a lot taller than Corkscrew and goes upside down 6 times, yet it only carries a "48 requirement.

I'm pretty sure the "Cedar Point takes safety much more seriously than Six Flags." argument is invalid here and that was my point. I'm pretty sure all parks take safety very seriously no matter if they are a corporate owned park or a family park.

As for StR's height requirement we're just going to have to wait and see what Intamin and Cedar Point work out. Seeing that HW's Pilgrim's Plunge carries a 48" height requirement using from what we can tell are the same boats, I'll be shocked if the requirement is lower for StR but it's certainly a possibility.

As you stated before Rob, in regards to Viper, there is the possibility that Holiday World raised the minimum height restriction from Intamin up to 48" for their own peace of mind.

So are you guys saying that Snake River Falls is going to be officially leaving the park given that Shoot the Rapids will be at the Point next year. Is shoot the rapids considered the same type of ride as Snake River Falls? Snake River is a shoot the chutes ride so what is STR considered as? I know it's by Intamin.

SRF isn't going anywhere. STR is a modern flume, while SRF is a shoot-the-chutes.

Brandon

Thanks for sharing the video. That ride looks pretty similiar to STR. I mean obviously STR is more of a flume than that and has more to it. It looks like the same recreation though. Interesting after the drop though. It looks as if you just kind of get sprinkled and then a big spash comes towards the end.

Also it showed a excellent view of the restraint system, only can hope they use the same restraint system.

It seems the boats have arrived at the point.
