Is Shoot the Rapids going to be the same as SRF?

Just wondering for the Point's latest new water ride next year 2010 just a question on Shoot the Rapids..is it going to be the same exact ride as Snake River Falls? If not what are the differences between these two rides? Is Shoot the Rapids going to be a Shoot the Chutes ride?

Don't care how long it will stay open.

Snake River Falls has one lift hill and zero theme. Shoot the Rapids gets its name from an old log flume style ride from long ago in CP history. Shoot The Rapids will have 2 hills and should have some theming. (Not promising anything)

Hope this is helpful for the noob.

but what I am asking is Shoot the Rapids going to be a Log Flume style ride or is it going to be like Snake River Falls a shoot the chutes ride but different? Do you guys see snake river falls being removed by the way I Hope not because i've never been on it.

Shoot The Rapids is a flume ride, though the flume will be from cast concrete rather than the more traditional fiberglass flume. Snake River Falls (and other shoot the chute rides) is a one trick pony with a lift hill and drop. Shoot The Rapids will have two drops and a much longer flume with multiple turns making it a modern version of the traditional flume ride.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

^^ Well look at them. STR is longer. STR is 3 feet taller. Boats are different than log flumes and even SRF boats. Seriously, this is common sense.

For more information look: here or here. And even here . Jeff is right about how new people should hang around for awhile.

No way! Snake River Falls is a popular water ride during the summer months. It may be one big hill, but that's all it takes to get riders wet. People like to get on the Snake, and get back on and get drenched again. :)

I will ride str because it's the new ride and all, but if you get as wet as they say you will, then it will be at the bottum of my re-ride list.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

^ditto

4 summers of employment in ride operations does stuff to you.

"They say" the wetness factor will be adjustable.

First thing I am going to ride is the Paddlewheels. Then I will promptly head over and get in the 2 hour line for STR.

I'm not saying that STR will be identical to SRF (Pete makes great points) but it will include everything that SRF has (plus flume elements), thus making SRF duplicitive. I'm still betting that SRF will be replaced within a few years of STR opening.

Tony did state during boo buzz that the wetness factor will be about the same as White Water Landing.

Did he really? If so, that will be great!

If the wetness factor is going to be similar to White Water Landing then I certainly plan on riding it if I can make it there next season.

While we don't know exactly what the conditions will be for "wetness," I can tell you that the goal is to have water features "splash" off of rocks and other objects, rather than "dump" right on to you.

The final splashdown, although it looks like water will be dumped into your boat, will likely get you sprinkled and refreshed. More wet than WWL, but not completely drenched (at least at this point).

Remember, animations are representations of an actual ride experience - not the actual ride experience.

Thanks Tony for the explination. If only we knew the height restrictions....
