Is Michigan's Adventure worth it?

Lets talk turkey - Recently I got a season pass to CP...a yearly thing - what is different this year is that I am thinking about heading to Michigan's Adventure to try it out. I have two questions...

1) Can you get access to both the waterpark and the rides park with a season pass?

2) Is it really worth the trip from the Detroit area?

Thanks!

Yes

Yes. One day is all you'll need, but Shivering Timbers is definitely worth the trip.

If you live in Detroit, then absolutely, go check it out. They have a nice water park, a new river rapids ride, and of course, Shivering Timbers. It's one of those "two parks, one price" marketing tags, so your pass gets you the whole package.

Yeah, I wouldn't call it a destination park (you're not going to plan a whole vacation around it). But for a couple hour drive its worth it. The water park entrance is towards the back of the park, no separate entrance.

There are lockers there for you to rent, as well as changing rooms. If I remember, the lockers are like 8 bucks for the day with 5 bucks refunded when you return your key. Theres also a mini SRF by the new rapids ride and a couple amusement park water slides.

I hit MI Adv during the busy summer months at CP, Shivering Timbers is awesome.

It is a good park to visit, one day there should be enough.

Cedar Point, Americas rip- rockin', high flyin', sky defyin', record breakin' roller coast

Coming from someone who doesn't live in Michigan, I visited the park last summer. I was quite suprised that the park was as nice as it is. The only thing that I thought the park lacked was some good food venues, which the park is obviously addressing with the addition of Coasters this year. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Michigan Adventure now has a new ride called grand rapids, also a new coasters restaraunt just like the one at cedar point, oh yeah shivering timbers is an awesome roller coaster. Its well worth the drive from the detroit area, also the water park is bigger than the one a cedar point, they also have a new water ride called the funnel of fear, which is awesome.

It's worth it, come have fun for the price of 2 parks for one!

It's definetly worth spending a day there since you don't live too far away and you won't have to pay for admission. There is a great waterpark and Shivering Timbers is an awesome ride.

I try to get up there once a season or more. I don't do water parks but Shivering Timbers is definitely worth the drive.

What?!?

I am surprised no one mentioned the TOILET WATER SLIDE THINGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That ride is worth the trip in itself.

Honest to goodness, if you have never been on that water ride, go somewhere that has one NOW and ride it.

It was one of the most fun water rides I have been on (till I started working for Busch Gardens, and Water Country USA is absolutely incredible, but that's a bit more of a drive ;) ).

I hope I am not confusing Geagua Lake w/ MIA. I think they both have one, but anyway, it's an awesome ride.

Are you talking about Funnel of Fear?

How busy does it get in the summer months?

Brandon

I am from Michigan and I just love those TV ads. That darn song gets stuck in my head and I find myself singing it to myself all season long. We manage to get over there every year. Let me tell you, it is worth the drive just for Shivering Timbers alone. I don't do the water park at all and still go there. The other cool thing is reliving CP nostalgia by riding their old Swan Boats and the Dodgem bumper cars.

I'm glad that you're just singing it to yourself, Tom, and not to others! ;)

Weekdays are not terribly busy. My daugther and I power rode ST (we lost count after 30 rides) over a long Tuesday as well as hitting all the other rides. (No waterpark for us.)

As for food: take the 15 minute ride north to Whitehall and eat at the last Dog 'n Suds drive-in in Michigan.

We are planning a trip in a couple of weeks for old times sake.

Is Dog 'n Suds the name of the place? Or are you refering to it as the last place you can drive-in and get a Hot Dog and Root Beer.

A&W in Ortonville is still around it if it's the latter.

Ever been up to Whitey's, Coastern3rd?

Brandon

Thanks for the replys!! I am going to have to check it out here in July. Tell me, other than ST are there other coasters there? I mean I saw a few others on the website but they looked like mini-rides (kinda like Jr. Gemini).

Anyways, thanks for the help - I hope my midweek visit will provide shorter lines!!
