Is Lusty Lil's now called "The Palace Theatre"?

Did they rename Lusty Lil's or is this a theatre that I don't remember:

Maybe the name, Lusty Lil's, was too provacative?

I don't think so...

Lusty Lil's encompasses both the Last Chance Saloon and the Golden Palace Theater. So it's "Lusty Lil's Golden Palace Theater" and "Lusty Lil's Last Chance Saloon." Always has been. :)

(Dave checks the web site...)

Although I notice the word "Golden" is missing from the logo on the web page now.....

Actually, the "full name" of the place is "Lusty Lil's Palace Theatre"

Actually the theatre has been renamed to just the Golden Palace...Lusty Lil's has been dropped.

The theater was only called "Golden Palace Theater" when it first opened. The name "Lusty Lil's" showed up some time in the early or mid 80's, if I remember correctly.

If that's true, that is just totally lame!

Well, the logo that was on the park's site last year is different than the one that is there now. It would appear to me that they've dropped "Lusty Lil's" and "Golden" to make the name just Palace Theatre. I guess we'll know for sure soon enough.

Wouldn't you know...I mentioned the name to my friends as we walked by last year that the park was so "family oriented" yet it has a saloon named Lusty 'Lils. I'm definitely not complaining about the name though. It gives it a more "Western" feel. I thought it would just be a matter of time 'til the do-gooders that changed the ride signs got to the Lusty 'Lils.

If this is the reason it changed, then it is pretty sad.

Hey, as long as the Swabinchen "lovely female" is still dancing around Lusty Lil's seems pretty tame.*** This post was edited by Jeffrey Spartan on 3/11/2002. ***

Ok Spartan, sorry about that. I didn't realize my slang reference to a woman who enjoys evenings with a variety of different men was a taboo word.

Was it really worse than MeanStreakMan's comment?

(And for the record, yes...I think about her every night. I love that little red number she wears. And those big....eyes...you could get lost in them.)

Ok Chiefwahoo..as long as were clear on the vocabulary for the future were cool. I took the liberty and corrected your post above since you learned your lesson ;) MSmans comments were not as demeaning to a gender though...

In the early '80's there actually was a "character", Lusty Lil. the summer of '81 she was a spunky gal by the name of Nugie . She and her husband, who was the projectionist for the IMAX, lived in the Cedars. The costume was a tad racey, but withing family standards-as were her minglings with the audience.

As a performer at Lusty Lil's in 1986 and 1987, I know that the character of Lusty Lil was added in 1981, the same year that White Water Landing debuted. At that time, the theatre featured vaudeville shows with a character named Lusty Lil, a Miss Kitty type propreitor of the saloon.

Over the years, the Vaudeville shows gave way to "Showstoppers", "Surfin' Summertime," and "America." I guess now that they don't do any Vaudeville, they decided to change the name of the theatre.

I couldnt help but post on this thread. Contrary to rumor "Schwabinchen" does NOT translate into what everyone thinks. One of my closest friends speaks german and he said it translates into something like "it comes from Schwabin".
With the big hoopla over "Banshee" I too couldnt understand how they could have an establishment with the name "Lusty" in it.
A funny note here however for RGR. I was talking to someone from the GOCC the other night and he asked me what the name of the show place was across from MF-I immediately said "The Red Garter Rob". OMG I could NOT believe I said that! Proving either I spend far too much time at this site or Rob spends far too much time at the Red Garter!! :)

Hey John...you may be correct on Lusty Lil being added in 1981, but White Water Landing did not open until 1982.

Also, wasn't it in the early to mid 80's there was a year or two of "Red Garter Rose" at the Red Garter?..I seem to remember her introducing the show and belting out a number or two herself.
