I have not rode the Dragster yet, because last time I was there, it wasn't built yet. I've heard the wait-time can exceed 5 hours. I'm going to the Point next weekend and I was wondering if it's worth the wait.
Ya, 5 hours would be quite unusual now. I would say anything under a 2 hour wait for that ride jump right in line! Oh and also, if you're in line and it just so happens to be closed due to mechanical issues, wait for 10 - 15 minutes to see what will happen. Often they get it back running quite shortly after declared down.
Have fun!
Praying for a rollback...
If the ride is running well (45-60 second launch intervals), then the ride wait at the entrance is accurate. Just cross your fingers for no downtime. The ride was running very well a couple weeks ago, it said a hour for wait time, but I got on the ride in 50 minutes. The line moves fast until you hit the ramp.
EDIT: For a first timer, I'd reccommend a ride no matter how long you have to wait. (Just don't put the wait time in ratio with the ride time.)

Yes, I would say it would be worth the wait if the wait is on/under 2 hours. The signs at the entrance can also sometimes not be very accurate because once it said it would take 2 hours when it only took us 45 minutes to wait.
I agree with Adam and Craig, if it's you're a first time rider, wait for it no matter what the wait. If it's a second, third, hundreth, etc..., I don't think I'd recommend waiting "5 hours" for it. I think there would be better ways to spend time in the park.

If the ride is open, I won't leave the park without a ride. That's my only rule. If the line is 2+ hours, that most likely means the rest of the park has similar waits.

My wait time for it anymore is 30 minutes or less. I'll wait an hour if I have to, and 15 minutes is optimal ;).
That's becoming the case with everything there, since I'm there with Jen almost every weekend.
Same here... Then you go with someone who only goes once a year, and they want to wait 30 minutes for Magnum, and you're like, "umm... we can find a shorter line somewhere..." :)

It is totally worth the wait especially if you have never ridden it before and in that case I suggest you wait a little longer and ride in the front. I can tell you the front is totally worth the wait.

That's true. Front is unbelievable for first timers. But beware, bugs! :)

Is there a major difference between going to the front or back train in the station? I've always gone to the front train, I don't know why. Any reason I should try the back train?
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I never really noticed a huge difference between going to either the front or back train. Sometimes the front train has shorter waits, and sometimes the back train has a shorter wait for front seat. But it depends on the day as it varies. I usually just pick the front.....dont know why either.:P

The front train should have the shorter line since it is on the inside of the turn on the ramp. Less pavement = shorter line. Also people tend to go into the closet one which is the rear train. This is only true though if the ops are controling the crowds.

Yeah I notice people tend to go to the rear train ramp.
Jeez it 4:00, I need to get to sleep!!!:)

If the line is really short and you plan on getting in line again after you get off the ride, pick the front train. That way you're getting off the ride instead of just being in the launch position when the first train is unloading. I'd say if the line isn't back up past the vending machines it should be alright. Last couple of times I've been, the line was around the vending machines, and it was about a 45 minute wait from there to the time I was sitting in my seat on the train (not including that wait for the front seat on one of them)
