Is it possible to eat right/Food questions.

Not that I'm a health nut or anything, but am I going to be eating greasy fries and burgers all summer long, or do the cafeterias have *somewhat* healthy food? What about breakfast, lunch and dinner, are the eateries open then, or you on your own sometimes?

And, correct me if I'm wrong, but you pay for all of your own food, right? Thanks!

You do pay for food but the cafeteria is reasonably priced...selling food at cost basically. You can eat healthy if you choose to eat healthy. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I thought the food was better than what we had at college and there are generally several choices for you.

Yes you will have the ability to eat right, but it's a matter of paying more for the healthier foods...although it is a bit harder for the people who work in the back of the park and have to eat at the Stockade.

The employee cafeteria has a much larger variety of foods, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables as well as salads. The trade off is that these foods cost at least twice as much as the other less healthy choices. So if you're there to save money for the summer you might find yourself in a quandary because you will most likely be spending twice as much per meal which really adds up over the course of the summer.

The cafeteria is open, I believe, from 6:00 am to either midnight or 1:00 am so you shouldn't have a problem trying to find food to eat.

In my opinion one of the healthiest things you can do over the summer working at Cedar Point is to cut down on the amount of pop you drink. Although you might want a little caffeine boost in the morning, drinking it on breaks, back at the dorms, and when you're playing in the park can really add up to a lot of calories per day. So if you're looking to stay healthy over the summer, that's where I would start.

Soda will kill you on those long days... Power/Gatoraide is the way to go. I'm not completely against junk food, but too much of anything is bad.

I never once drank any soda on my breaks, I swore by the free water and sometimes brought my own Gatorade when it was really hot out. Food wise, good luck if you're breaking back at Stockade. I might just find an alternative to the greasy, fatty stockade food this summer. Something from the grocery store, because I'm losing weight and I refuse to gain it back!

I know it's not the healthiest thing to do in the world but I limited myself to most of the time water and a hamburger for lunch and then whatever was made back where I live. I don't live in the dorms, so I still got a nice home cooked meal, but most of the time I would just have a light snack before bed.

In any case I lost about 30lbs. over summer. Maybe not healthy, yeah, but whatever.

Depending on where you work, you can get a *ton* of exercise from working at CP... Jobs in Rides and Environmental Services have you moving around physically a LOT! Lifeguards have in-service training where they practice swimming and lifesaving techniques. Bellhops run up and down stairs, carrying guests' heavy luggage.

Even if your job doesn't appear at first to be very physically challeneging, you can often make it that way. In Admissions, if your're working on a gate, you can usually choose to stand at your turnstile during the slow part of the day or sit on a stool. Standing is better exercise. If your Team Leader at your food stand is looking for someone to sweep or mop the floor, be the first to volunteer -- it's excellent exercise for the muscles in your arms. There are probably many choices for activities that you will make during your work day that are more physically challenging than others...choose the ones that will give you a good workout.

Along with this great exercise, eating well, and sucking down that Gatorade, you will be quite healthy and rather buff by the end of the summer.

I'd have to agree. . .many times, you are simply too tired, too hot, and too busy to eat.

You have to believe this, coming from a guy who takes food and eating VERY seriously. :)

The park is a BIG place, and you may have sore legs the first few weeks. . .it's a lot of walking to get used to!

But, by the time it's warm enough to enjoy Soak City, you will be toned and ready to hit the waves. ;)
