Is anyone excited about the new ride?

Most parks have 1-2 family roller coasters. CP is no exception. Blue Streak, Iron Dragon, and Mine Ride are all family roller coasters.

The only reason I'm arguing this is because it feels like some of you don't think it's something that's going to happen for a long time. I'm not trying to compare Cedar point to its other parks, I'm comparing it to what it used to have. If I remember right, there was a big complaint on the lack of family (or "mild", as xfireboyx suggest they be called) coasters on pointbuzz awhile back, and now we have the perfect chance to add another mild coaster in now that we lost two (and I still think they should build it with the new wing coaster).

There wasn't a complaint about a lack of family coasters. There was discussion about a lack of family rides. There's a big difference.

But a family coaster can be considered a family ride too, so really there's not.

But, I'm sure "rides" do cost a lot less. So financially, it'd probably be best to put in something like that. It's just, I know as a kid family coasters meant a lot more to me than flat rides, and I'm sure the same applies to a lot of other young adults.

I agree Titandwedebil... Rides are probably more cost efficient, but it was always a special experience to be able to ride a coaster with the whole family... even if it was the Mine Ride (that's the only coaster my mother would go on).

This is all relative.

The height requirements at Cedar Point are such that I cannot ride any coasters with my 4 year old except WE. I'm too tall (not fat...I'm 6-2, 165) to fit in Junior Gemini....therefore the only true family "coaster" CP has is Woodstock Express. Yippee.

A family ride has to have height requirements that allow a broad range of people to ride; meaning, more exciting than Space Spiral. I would label SS as a family "attraction". Hence, a dark ride can be a wonderful thing (not a dark "coaster")....they can be interesting and engaging enough to actually entertain everyone at the same time

I still don't understand why they haven't moved forward with a Snoopy-themed dark ride. Given the chain's use of Peanuts for countless kiddy rides, the idea seems like a slam-dunk to me.

Ensign Smith, maybe they're waiting until the year after next to add something like that. Another thought I had is maybe they'll try something out at Kings Island and see how it works. Kings Island lately has become the trial park for Cedar Fair.

Kings Island already has a dark ride; Boo Blasters. It's fairly obvious to everyone that dark rides make for great family additions and CP would GREATLY benefit from one.

^They need to turn the old Pirate Ride building into a Boo Blasters type ride. They're extremely popular with kids and are fun as hell for adults even. I have been on Boo Blasters and the Buzz Lightyear at Disneyland and had a blast on them
