I don't really consider Space Spiral a "ride". It's an observation tower. That's like calling an elevator or an escalator a family ride at a mall. I don't get the "losing a family ride" whining over this one, and I have a family, and am one of the loudest about clamoring for a new family ride/attraction at Cedar Point.
Now I'm just babbling.
Promoter of fog.
Yeah, losing Space Spiral it's no big loss for me either. But, man CP needs to build more family attractions in the future, not remove more.
I'm sure they will. They're not oblivious to the fact they only have one rideable family ride left. (Discluding Mine ride, of course, which I just finished ranting about on another thread).
I guess you could count Gemini as a family coaster too, maybe. Anyways, I'm pretty confidant the next thing after the coaster will be a family coaster, despite the denial that CP will no longer be buiding coasters within close time frames.
Well if it's a money thing like you said on the other thread, then maybe I don't believe it. But money aside, it's really not a stupid idea to want to build a new family coaster. I mean honestly, it's not like young kids have much of a choice anymore, and CP knows it.

RPM & others, I'm guessing you have never been on Wild Eagle or the other wing-riders out there.
No, I have not. The name of this topic is 'is anyone excited about the new ride', not 'will the new ride be fun' or some other variation of that. People give honest answers to that question and get jumped-on because it doesn't match your own opinion.
I'll ride it when it opens and I'll probably really enjoy it. But I'm not excited about it in the same way I was excited about MF and Dragster, for example.

I'm guessing no, most of them are 14 and under and can't drive to either place that has one.
What an asinine comment. Just because my opinion doesn't match your own, you assume I must be 14?
I don't really get what a family coaster is? It'd seem that a family coaster would be one void of big drops and inversions with medium speed and intensity.
To me, this is exactly what Disaster Transport was, yet it was widely bashed as being a dull and lame ride experience that people wanted removed.
The park does this and then people complain about a lack of family coasters. So, what is an example of a great family coaster that people aren't going to find lame in a high-thrill park like Cedar Point?

How long did it take you to come up with that? I've actually ridden both X-Flight and Wild Eagle, you have not. And no, riding the coasterso on a pov don't count. And okay, so you're 15.

OK, so tell me why I should be excited by the new CP coaster? I don't mean that in an argumentative way, but if you were running the CP marketing department, how would you sell the new ride? Whats the 'wow' factor that would get me excited? Granted, we don't know the details of the new ride, but based on your vast riding experience, you should have a pretty good idea of what the new ride will be like.
I don't know what the new ride is gonna be like, since we don't even know what kind of ride it is as of yet. Wing Riders are fun, and I think the general public will love this at CP. If indeed it is a wingrider.
No one should be excited by the new coaster. Just like all the people who complained about Maverick not being a record breaker, everyone should trash a coaster they've never ridden.
In fact, NEVER RIDE IT. IT WILL SUCK. Spend ALL of your time riding El Toro or The Voyage. I want the new coaster to be a walk-on for my 2013 visits to CP.
This Isn't A Hospital--It's An Insane Asylum!
Are you telling me that a coaster can be really fun without it being a record breaker?! I do not believe you.

DT was a family coaster, and so was Wildcat. Iron dragon is included in that, and maybe even Gemini.
They're coasters that everyone can ride, that both teenagers and adults and younger kids can all enjoy together.
Of course people will complain about them when they come out, but that's just something that happens. This is why I think it would be best to build family coasters in addition to a large ride (at the same time). I know there was an idea way early on that CP could be building the new Wing Rider as well as a smaller one for the family.
Most parks have 1-2 family roller coasters. CP is no exception. Blue Streak, Iron Dragon, and Mine Ride are all family roller coasters.
"Family Coaster" is subjective.
Some families have all members that like huge coasters... some families do not.
I think the more appropriate term would be 'mild' coasters.
