I have a couple of questions about interviews.
1. The park is holding open interviews for locals who have already applied online at the the Breakers Express on Saturday. My question is, would it be beneficial to me to go and do my interview in person? I would think it would be. Also, do these tend to be formal interviews, as in shirt and tie, or more casual?
2. Is the person who does your interview someone directly from the department in which your first choice is, or are they done generically?
3. If the interview is done with someone directly from the department in which you are applying, when one does an in-person interview, are the interviewers separated by department, or how exactly does that work?
I may have a few more that arise when I get the answers to these, but this is a start... Thanks for your responses!

You never know what department the interviewer will be from. It depends who you get. You usually are in a small group of about 3.
Most people wear jeans and sweatshirts. Similarly, most people work middling rides, restaurants and attractions. You want a plum job? Wear a suit.
I suspect that if you go, you'll have the chance to make an impression. If you want a specific job, go and dress and act like a nobleman.

Will someone doing your interview from, say, Food Services, reduce your chance at being hired in Park Operations when Ride Host or another Park Operations position is your first host?

If your interviewer is from food services or somewhere else that would neccesarily eliminate you from being a ride host, but it would make your chances of getting hired in food services better. Last year there were recruiters from geauga lake at my school and thats where I applied, they asked if I would be interested in a position in food service, and I told them no, so they didn't hire me in food service. They told me that they would send my application to HR, and they would make my application available to games so they could hire me. They said having a face to face interview would increase my chances of being hired. If I didn't tell them I didn't want to work in food service i have a feeling I would have been hired there. If you dont want to work in food service or something else just put it on your application, and put your first choice as rides, and then pick two other things that would interest you. It could be different because its cedar point, but I would imagine it would be relativley the same.

seriously dress up you don't have to go all out with the suit........but at least some nice dress slacks and a polo shirt or something; they do make notes on what you are working and what your appearance is, if you look not neat then there is a chance you won't follow our groooming guidelines. the people doing the interview are recruiters--they just do your interview depending on your choices that you mark on your application is where you application will be able to be viewed once it is given to hr and put on the system; so having someone from park op doing your interview will not hurt your chances of workin in foods if that's what you want
