International Lifeguard

Hi!!

I got accepted as a lifeguard at 8131:soak city operations , what does it mean? Will I be on a ride for my whole 3 months of working or just around soak city !?

It's my first year working at CP so I dont really know how things work ! How are the shifts? How do they assign the dorms and the people? Im soo nervousss !!

Is there any group for international workers, or soak city lifeguards ?

I'm 19 and I come for Spain, hope I'll be meeting some new awesome people!!

It's my first year working at CP also so I cannot answer how the shifts are, but as for roommates you can either plan to room with people ahead of time or get some random roommates when you get there. When do you process in? Btw, I'm a lifeguard also and you can add me to fb if you want. I don't know too many other lifeguards yet. Espero hablar contigo pronto.

Soak City runs 3 crews. East, West, and Wave. Each crew has a rotation of rides that they cover. For example if you get put on wave crew you'll rotate positions every so often, (however long it takes to rotate through everybody on the crew, something like 20-30 mins if I remember) You'll have a bunch of positions on the wave pool, the lazy river, a slide, and a pool with obstacles and stuff to climb all over. Each crew has their specific rides, more positions will open up depending on weather and number of people etc...

There are also a bunch of shifts too, sometimes you get open to close which is exactly what it sounds like. Sometimes you get something like 10 to close or open to 8, things like that I forget all the specifics. Depending on the time of the season and how many people are still working there you can get anywhere from 50-70 or 80 hours a week, you can pick up extra hours every once in awhile if they need people to go work on the beach or go to Castaway for a shift. Hope some of this helps.

depends on your swimming ability and what kind of things yous want to do, if you like to walk a lot and I mean a lot then wave. Wave also has the most action and "save" west has lest walking and more kiddie areas. East has even lest walking and almost all waterslides. Then you have the beach which is guarding smaller pools at the hotels and guarding the beach. Lots of hour and pretty boring.

To be on Wave you have to technically have a higher qualification that proves you're capable in rough and open water. The way they did it with us was a simple drill with the wave pool on and seeing who could handle it and who struggled and then you got deep water/special facilities, meaning you could be on wave or go work the beach if needed, things like that. I thought wave was a lot of fun. its a lot of walking but you get to do more, you get to sit down when the wave pool is open all the way in the summer, and it has the most variety as far as locations. It has slides, pools, kids, and a river so you get it all.
