We've been talking recently about the possibility of a late winter gathering. I guess the first step is to gauge the interest in the event. At this point, the time frame is probably March, with the event most likely taking place on a Saturday. The logical location is Castaway Bay, with a dinner/lunch, presentations, and maybe time in the waterpark.
This is just a fact finding mission. I'm not sure yet what we would be able to arrange, what is and isn't feasible, if the event even makes sense, and so on. We just want to get an idea of interest before we dive into the details.
The cost would depend on what's involved. It's hard to say at this point, and this is purely an uneducated and uniformed guess, but I can imagine something in the neighborhood of $20/person. Whatever the cost, it'll be directly tied to what is offered (food, waterpark admission, etc.)
The question is, would you be likely to attend? Any ideas for things to include in the event?
I would more than likely attend, just make sure none of the local schools are on a mid-winter break of somesorts.
My wife is a teacher for a catholic school in Metro Detroit and they will not be on any type of extended vacation in March.
I'd be there. It all sounds like a wonderful idea!
A lunch presentation/possible podcast, and maybe some Q&A time with Mr.Kinzel or Mr.Hildebrandt would be a good noon gathering with the rest of the day for the waterpark.
I know this is going out on a limb, but maybe a guided walk-through of the park could be a possibility. This way most people here won't rely on Walt to get an off-season update up as much.

From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~
I'd be there for anyone needing a punching bag ;)
Honestly, I think it'd be a great idea and I'd really like to do it.
We could also crown me PointBuzz Fantasy Football League champion that day as well so everyone could cheer me on ;)

Well, Ben, it sounds like you've got the "fantasy" part of that right.
I'm sure a park tour will be the #1 request, but there are a number of reasons why that probably won't work. Our event focus will likely just be Castaway Bay.
Sounds like fun. Count me in.

Yeah I'm in for this idea. Sundays little PB meeting at Frontier Inn wasnt all that great. Just a few I recognized and some I didnt(it was great meeting those who did show up). Though the "informal takeover" of MS and Magnum was pretty fun.:)
So yeah count me in!

I think Becc and I could make it down. Be a good chance to check out Castaway Bay.
Goodbye MrScott

I would be down too! As Adam said, the gathering @ the Frontier Inn really didn't go as well as I hoped either. about half of the people that showed were kind of like standing around till I metioned at about 2:30 "what a bout this informal takeover thing?" and that kinda got the ball rolling. We were wondering what happened to you guys after the Dragster run Adam but we kinda figured that you jumped in line again after the first ride for a reride. It kinda split the whole group of us in half. Oh well the rest of us had some fun riding other stuff , hope you guys enjoyed the rest of your days.
Jamie and I would do all that we could to make sure that we were there for such an event. Sounds great, Walt.

I'll throw in my vote for sounding like a good idea and most likely attending.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Sounds like a really nice idea. I will be there if it happens, as long as it isn't on 3/10 (ski trip) or 3/17 (St. Patrick's Day)
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I'd be up for that. My wife and kids would love a little water park getaway towards the end of winter.
