Okay so we have heard that GL would be getting a hyper soon. But I just had a cool idea I think. How about a launched coaster like StormRunner at Hershey. I rode it this year and I thought it was great. It has it's downtime but not as much as TTD does. That coaster could be built over 200ft and has some pretty cool inversions.
While a cool idea, from what we've heard, I think they're going for a more tradtional coaster, much like Magnum. That's just my assumption, however, if they did add something such as SR...I would be extremely impressed.
Last public train of 2005 on MF!
I can see them putting in both. The hyper would come first and the accelerator coaster would come at a much later date.

I honestly don't see either. I doubt that GL will develop past what it has now, IMO.

I agree. I think the waterpark expansion will about do it for Geauga Lake for a couple of years. Besides, the hypercoaster was a rumor from the Six Flags era. If any coaster is to be built in the near future, I think it will be a family coaster, given that GL has indicated this is the group it wants to focus on.

R.I.P: The Mayor, Mr. Scott
I heard a lot before the water park was that there was going to be a Intamin mini-hyper Like (expidition G Force). But I don't think that this really fit's the family theme. Although it would be something that would have me at GL a lot more offten.
Ultimate Ride= Expidition G Force
Best US Ride= Millenium Force
Actually, as Spehn stated to me on the Community Day for '05 GL has the second highest coaster count in the chain, and he said that if the financial end works out they would strongly look at putting in a hyper sometime not to far in the future. I'm thinking they already have a hyper okayed by the chain, now they are working on financial models, and the cities to see which side the biggest parts will be on. Although I guess a hyper accelerator issn't too far out of the question.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Back in 2000ish I believe it was, there was a mandate at Geauga Lake saying that no ride can be taller than like 150 I think. Six Flags however was successful in convincing the cities to allow them to build a coaster of any height starting the rumors that Six Flags wanted to build a hyper. The mystery hyper never appeared with SF selling the park to GL however the rumor still lives and people still think that GL will throw money at a coaster that wouldn't be for their target audience.
I HATE Six Flags said:
How do you know GL is putting in a hyper?
I never said I did. I was just stating that considering my little talk with Spehn before the season, and several rumors I find it very likely that a hyper will be coming to GL before too long. And I will also mention that Spehn stated that "although we would like to be known as a family park, we can not ignore that we also have a thrilling collection of coasters." Now, I also remember him stating that they would like to expand on their coaster collection in the future, only not using those exact words.

Well I can see that happening too in the near future. Especially since we are doing phase II of Wild Water Kingdom, it would appear to me that there is no need for Hurricane Hanna, so the park could expand that area and put a couple good coasters in there.
Back in 2002 Six Flags did get the 180-foot limit raised to 210 feet. However, this was only for Bainbridge. You can see the article here: http://geaugaguide.com/images/brochures/sfwoa02/newspaper.jpg
And a while ago, many sources had qoutes from Bill Sphen saying that a hyper is in the near future. So what BlueStreak said so most likely what's going on.
One last thing, a hyper would be part of the target audience. Geauga Lake wants something for the whole family. Thrill-seeking teens are a part of a family. And if no new major coasters are added within 3-5 years, I am sure the current 9 big coasters will get stale.
Call it wishful thinking but I would like to see a 4th dimension of some kind either an Arrow or (preferably) B&M.

Does anyone really think Cedar Fair will put money into another rocket coaster? dont get me wrong I would love to see another close to home but hasnt Dragster had to much go wrong to see another.
2005-2007 Cedar Point
2007-2008 Dueling Dragons TL
2008- present Sea World Orlando Shamu Lead Area 2
Why would Cedar Fair want to add another coaster like Dragster at their sister park which is like One Hundred something extra miles away from Cedar Point and might have just as many problems as Dragsters experiencing. Cedar Fair is trying to fix the one they have right now before they put another one in somewhere else. Attention Everyone, I have just made it to 1,000 posts. GOOD FOR ME!!
Hence why I said "Wishful Thinking"

I think that MA will get something before GL does. I think CF might be done with new rides at GL for now. From their perspective, would it be better to throw money at new rides, or advirtise hardcore, get people in the park, and show em the new and improved Six Flags.
Actually, they need to do both. With all of the stuff they moved from Hurricane Hannah's over to WWK, or cemented over, there is a large area of nothing but cement and dirt that needs to have something done to it. If the rumors about the monorail being taken out/getting some very extensive rehab come true, I would look for a flat installment, along with at least part of a coaster in that area of the park. You see, having a sizable plot of concrete doesn't help in the advertising department, both in the ads the park runs and word of mouth advertising that is done by the visitors.
