In need of a paint job already?

The track looks great in the tunnel. :)

i think that magnum looks more like the classic that it is without being repainted. it really looks fine and kind of has the "used to be the tallest and fastest but now is just a simply good ride" kind of feel to it. i think it would look tacky if it got repainted, but maybe not, lets just see how it turns out.

lmao steelmonsters.... thats some funny ****, Raptor got painted for 2001, and i think it looks horrible as it is now.

and was it just me or did opening year (1994) for the raptor the track was green with the rails grey? or just a lighter green like they are now? I could have sworn they were grey... but yeah, raptor needs paint bad. although i havent really payed attention to much of the paint on many rides.

Raptor's rails were originally not painted at all. They painted them so they won't rust. But what about Magnum, has it ever got a fresh coat of paint?

Hey lets not forget that wildcat got a fresh coat of paint, lets just hope and pray that they don't do something that sinful and horrid to maggie or millie! Honestly, whoever decided on the new paint scheme should never be allowed on a design team or even near a paint can again in their entire life, that was a tragedy. And I REALLY noticed the paint was looking bad on the supports for the final overbank the other day. I think painting these should be a major focus in the next two years.

ehh, i like WildCat's paint now more then before. hmmm, lets see, purple and green, or white and rust???
i too noticed the paint the most in the queue, get that coaster some paint!!!

how about this: purple and green, or the original colors before it rusted? still a funny remark though.

Guess what? I got a fever! And the only prescription... is more cowbell!

eh, the original colors would not be bad at all, although that midway now seems much brighter and welcoming with "Essence of Clown Puke" painted on the crazy kitty...

Rogue, thats the funniest description of that paint job I have ever heard! Ok anyway, the coaster that REALLY needs the track repainted is Corkscrew. Espically because it goes dirrectly over one of the main midways in the park. Next time you are at the park take a look at the paint in the screws, its more rust colored than it is blue these days.

ah, thank you liebevision...
and yes, i am in agreeance that Corkscrew needs a new coat of paint, mainly because it is a very visible ride...

My theory is: If the ride does not grab your attention while you're looking over the park from the top of Top Thrill Dragster, then it needs a new coat of paint.

Think of it this way: When you look down at the park from the top of TTD, the first two rides that literally grab your attention would be Mantis, and then Wildcat. It seems these two rides jsut got a fresh coat of paint in the winter..... It's not how the ride looks, the fresh paint grabs your attention whether it looks good or bad. That's my $0.02

the only thing that grabs my eye at the top of Top Thrill Dragster would be Millennium Force, that being because it takes up a goodly amount of room...

YEA! Corkscrew supporters. I completely agree that Screw needs a new paint job. But I heard it's not even on the schedule yet. Look for Magnum to have a fresh coat this year, just in time for it's 15th birthday.

Corkscrew has been nicknamed the "Ghetto Ride of Cedar Point" for a reason. They took away our banners, took away our train decals, but they can never take away our pride! Granted, we never had any pride in the first place, but technically they didn't take any. I just want to see our leaky roof get repaired. That platform becomes a hazard with a 21 second interval.

Millennium Force is a flagship ride, it will be treated as such. It took 7 years for Raptor to receive it's paint job, expect MF to be around the same.

Well, about never having any pride in the first place......Corkscrew had it's share of fame. I would say this took place from 1976 up though the mid 1980's.

Its not that extremely hard to paint because they make the metal magnetic and charge the paint so it sticks right to it.
I have to agree with Mox. I saw the Wildcat when I went down there for Media Day and I wanted to jump right on it. It looked really cool. Its the appeal. If a food doesn't look appealing, you don't want to eat it.

My question is though, how did you notice anything around you while on TTD. My one ride was awesome, in the front car even but I was so caught up in the whole ride experience I didn't get a chance to see anything but was quickly flying by. Maybe I'll try to notice when I get there during Halloweekends.

I think CP is going for the "Rustic" look on the screw, lol

I loved the WildCat paint job, Mantis as well

MF would look good purple and green, although we are all used to Millennium Blue..hehe

Mox, I think that Mantis and Wild Cat are also the two that you notice cause that's the way you are facing at the top of TTD. Add to that that Millenium Force is a dark blue color which doesn't jump out, and you have the reason that those are the rides you see.

Rustic is the Antique cars, Corkscrew is South Compton. I wouldn't be too surprised if Corkscrew just kept fading till it was all white. I'm surprised they haven't painted 'Screw to match Dragster. We've got Top Chill Snowcones and Hot Fries: Race for the Fry. Why not "Low Thrill Corkscrew?" Seriously though, with all the money they spent on revitalizing the Dragster midway, couldn't they find just a few dollars to refurbish a Cedar Point signature?
