I'm in! New hire as food host!

Hi all, i would be a new hire processing in on 3th May as a food host. i read on jobnet that i report to Vicki Marks from the food services, anyone knows what area Vicki is in charge of? also, i see that i need to bring a twin size bedsheet, anyone who stayed in employee housing can verify that (are beds single/queen)? also, in terms of cleanliness, convenience and generally a better place to live in, is bayside apt or common dorms/apts the BEST choice? and which of em has wifi within the dorm itself so i dont have to head out to the employee recreation or elsewhere to get acess?

oh, and i'd be missing the last greyhound out from cleveland airport. would it be advisable to catch the amtrak train and how to i connect from where i drop off to get to Cedar Point?

Congratulations on your hire! Vicki Marks is a manager for administration and personnel development. She interviewed me last year but I was placed with a different manager. So you won't be directly under her, unless she took on an area this year. Which entirely could be possible.

In housing beds are twin sized, so you'd need to bring a twin sized bed sheet. I stayed in commons dorms (1400's) and as long as you have clean roommates which would be 2-3 other people it wasn't bad. The apartments have 8-12 people living in them and they can get a tad dirty because of the higher occupancy. Commons dorms have air conditioning which was well worth the extra money. Commons apartments only have air conditioning in the living room.

Wifi varied with the strongest signal actually being the rec center which was terrible. I do however have a feeling they've done some enhancements considering that was a major complaint.

As for transportation, I'd call a cab when I got to the station. They have a lot of cab companies in the area. Just do a google search. You may be able to convince them to give you a CP rate if you are going to process in.

Hey thanks! i don't have a exact position/location stated on jobnet either, guess i'd know when i reach in 2 months time. In terms of transportation is it safe for two to four girls to call a cab at say 4-5 am from where the amtrak train leaves us in Sandusky? We are not from the states and is unsure how safe it is to take cabs at such timing. Is it common to be given "CP rate" for cabs around there?

I took a cab from the Amtrak station last year, around 5am. It only cost like $5 to be taken to Human Resources. I think the cab company was called 24/7.

I'd say as long as you are in a group you will be fine. I would most likely tell someone your complete plans for transportation. For example, obviously your plane/train arrangements and the cab company you will use. Just in case something were to happen they can track you down.

Cabs are available, but plan ahead and make a reservation with a cab before arriving. While most of the companies advertise 24/7 service. Most are independent people that drive when they feel like it and may not answer their phones. Especially if you call during the off season (meaning park isn't open yet. which is when most will process in). But I will say they were reasonable with pricing, granted most of the cabs I was in didnt have meters.

so u waited outside HR for them to open at 8? we thought the amtrak would beat checking into the airport hotel/ waiting for the earliest greyhound out to Sandusky hence the decision. would google the cab company, thanks a mill!

i would. the problem is we're (possibly) the first batch of students from my country and don't have people to inform in the states. we'd see how it goes then. (:

Ok hello everyone I just filled out a application at CP like 2 days agao, when can I expect a call? Is it a way I could contact the hiring manager? And also, Is it a way I can check my application status?

it really just depends both my seasons i filled out the app and was interviewed that week.. except this time i was hired during my interview it really just depends on where u are tryin to work. best of luck
