Ok,..I haven't been to the park in 2 weeks because I was on vacation in NYC visiting friends, many of them in the theater industry. (I saw "The Normal Heart", the Broadway Bares- 2011 Masterpiece fundraiser, "Priscilla Queen of the Desert", and "How to Succeed...".)
It was funny because I was introduced to people who'd mentioned that they'd taken a whirlwind 1 day trip to Cedar Point because they had heard all sorts of amazing things.
We had a lengthy conversation about the park, rides, Live Shows, etc.
Their biggest raves of "course" were the coasters- they couldn't say enough about them. They also loved the gorgeous location on the Lake and the views the park had to offer. They showed me some of their pics on their cell phones and they were actually so good they looked like postcards.
Biggest complaint- naturally...the Live Shows. They said that they got up and left both the shows at the Jack Aldrich and the Red Garter because it was so embarassingly painful. They "did" however like the Palace and the Goodtime.
Word is out there on the streets of NYC! It was fun to talk to people who had experienced the park for the first time and get their viewpoints/opinions, etc.
Of course the shows were there biggest complaint, they are in the theater business. Did they really think they would see a Broadway quality show at an amusement park? It all just depends on your personal opinion, some love the shows and others don't. Alice Ripley visited the shows this summer and could not stop raving about Rockin' the Point. I'd consider her to be in the theater industry:)
There is no excuse as to why CP "doesnt" have Broadway quality shows. They "used" to!
Many of my friends started out in the amusement park industry initially in the beginning.
They "did", however, really enjoy the show at the Palace and the Goodtime. I have to agree that the Palace had a great & enjoyable show as well.
The quality of the Live Entertainment as a whole has gone down considerably over the past decade or so.
And I had a feeling Alice Ripley may stop by during her "Next to Normal" stint in Cleveland. She's originally from the area & went to school at Kent State. That's great that she was able to come to CP!
