Identify this aircraft

Calling all aircraft experts ...

There was a jet flying over Cedar Point on Friday from the Cleveland Air Show. I got a couple of pictures and put one up as the Feature Photo on the front page. I initially identified it as a Thunderbird jet, but upon further review, I'm not sure.

Does anyone know for sure who/what the jet is?

That is a Blue Angel for two resaons: 1. It is blue and yellow. 2. They Blue Angels not Thunderbirds were at the airshow this year.

No, the Thunderbirds headlined. The Blue Angels were in Maryland this weekend.

The closest thing I can compare that blurry picture to is an A-4 Attack Jet. Definately not the blue angels. The fly the F-18 I believe it is. and that is not an f-18

I dont think it's the thunderbirds either... I remember that they have mostly white planes... And looking around for pix, I would have to say they are. From the looks of that pic, its not the thunderbirds.

Also, the blue angels have some obvious yellowish gold on the planes... But its kinda hard to tell in that photo... So I cant rule them out here.. tho i don't think its them either

I do know I was at Cincinnati's riverfest yesterday, and they demonstrated a harrier right on the river... It was awesome. I doubt this is the same plane tho..

I also agree that its not an F-18, so that nixes the Blue Angels....must be just a random flyby

My cousin knows alot about planes....he says the pic is too blurry but he thinks it could be a F-100 thru an F-105... He forgets which one looks like that...

Ooh I saw that too. Forgot about it, actually. Me and my cousin were confused, it seemed like he was flying really low (like RJason said). At the time I would've thought a Blue Angel, but the investigative research of PointBuzz appears to point elsewhere, haha.

when i was in Vegas a few years ago i visited Nellis Air Force Base (home to the Thunderbirds). They told us that there is a rule between the two (Blue Angels and Thunderbirds) that they cant fly within 500 miles of each other because it will jam up all the other air traffic

Looks like an F20 Tigershark. There are pics at

if you can get the link to work!

It certainly does look like it Panman.

I'm wondering if it was a security inspection of the area around Davis-Besse Power Plant since it isn't too far from Cedar Point. This has happened before in the past where the three powerplants in the Toledo area had jet contrails all over the sky during September of 2004.

It was the craziest couple of days I could remember.

It's all a conspiracy.

I'm sure someone will ask Tony & Tyler about this.

All I know is that's not a Thunderbird or a Blue Angel.

THAT was funny Walt. Is he still on his vapor trails kick? I'm working when he's on but all this spring he wouldn't let up about it.

It may be an F20 but it may also be a T16. Hard to tell if it has a single or double engine.

T16's are fun. ;)

I don't know. I stopped listening to him soon after that episode. I'm convinced, though, that it was just a radio bit to help get him through a slow news period. How many "causes" has he picked up and then dropped once legit news becomes interesting again? :)

That aircraft is a Canadian CT-155 Hawk. I was at the airshow on Monday, we saw that plane flying around. This aircraft was being flown around during the Canadian portion of the show, and it was only used to show the difference in training aircraft.

It is not a Blue Angel, they fly the FA18. The T-birds Fly the F-16C and one of them at the Cleveland show was their trainer planes. I believe it was the slot plane (#4) since the T-birds hit each other at a show in Michigan about a month ago.

Here is a good picture of the aircraft..

Here is a schedule of the planes at the Airshow:

If you goto the link below there are alot of FAQ's and one of them explains why the T-birds and Angels don't perform together.

Very true Walt, not to mention that he was in the middle of a ratings period then and was falling fast.

Wow Hooper, you're good for something other than yelling out questionable screen names from moving roller coaster. :)

Yep Walt,

I admit that I listen to Triv sometimes. I listen to him once in a while.

He can be crazy once in a while and the whole "Vapor Trails" was a bit over-hyped. I liked it better when he talked more about what he seems to be an expert in; sports. The political talk is starting to get on my nerves, I'll listen to Rush or Springer if I want to know politics.

HA, I remember that. That was funny. I try, I try. :)

I was there on Sunday with my wife and had a great time. While watching the performances of the different aircraft, I pointed out to Christa that a lot of the manuevers were similar to ones found on roller coasters. If I'm not mistaken, I believe thats where a lot of element ideas by B&M came from.
