Idea for new name for midway

"Drag Strip" popped into my mind as soon as I read the topic title in the topic listings, before I had even read any posts. I think it's a natural. If the midway is to be renamed, that would be my preference. If you want to get patriotic, call it the "American Drag Strip" but I think that's over-doing it a little. HOWEVER, I agree with Brent and OldCPer, leave it as the Gemini Midway.
The Main Midway is where the entrance to ID, Wildcat and the Train Station is. In fact, it's so named because that WAS the main midway, and where it ended in the mid 60's.

Gemini Midway includes PT, Corkscrew, etc.

MF and Mantis are part of the Frontier Midway

LOL, well I have been goign tot he park since I was 6, and I never knew what that part of the midway was. But I would just leave it the same, i dont really refer to the park by the midway names anyway.
whys it called "top thrill dragster?" it doesn't go in a straight line and dragster's don't do corkscrews. i know it goes fast like a dragster....but well just had to get that after my chest........

IMO, "Drag Strip" is a lot more original than "American Midway".

Drag Strip is a cool name but even if they gave it that name, I don't think i'll stop calling it Gemini Midway.

Drag Strip sounds good but.... NO. It was, is, and forever will be the Corkscrew/Gemini midway.
What was it called before corkscrew and gemini?

I am for the Drag Stip. I mean, "yay for America" but it would be very redundant because everything seems to be turning red, white and blue. I really don't want more pratriotic stuff. I mean you can't walk outside without seeing a flag

Before Corkscrew and Gemini? It was called "out in the woods."

It is because even if it goes up and over and back it is like a dragster with the launch and things like that. Also it is a great way to theme a ride. Yeah...

Hello, how are you today, man?

Drag strip or The strip is definitely catchy, but American Midway has the sound of pride in it. And you dont' get much more "American" than CP. Hamburgers, Pizza, hot dogs, and roller coaster rides that just make you feel so free.

My favorite picture I ever took at CP was from the parking lot. Up close you see the cars and in the background the sun is setting with the American flag flying proudly with the birds and the Blue Streak next to it. You look at that picture and you just feel good.

Cedar Point is closed for the season. Reason? Freezin!

I think that midway should forever be named after the original ride on it. Gemini. Gemini is still exciting enough to continue to have it's midway named after it and in the spirit of CP tradition.

Actually OldPCer the Main Midway dead ends at the lagoon. The area where Wildcat, Snoopy Sucks on Ice, ID and the Train Station are is the Million Dollar Midway opened in 1970. Before it was the Gemini midway it was nothing! It didn't exist. I think it should still be Gemini midway, don't mess with the classics.
You think that the Snoopy ice show sucked this year...funny, I think you're the only one. It obviously did much better than recent IMAX movies since it was the first time I've ever seen the theater completely full nearly every show...

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

Gemini wasn't the first ride on the midway. Corkscrew and Trioka were built two years before and and Witches Wheel and Dodgems built a year before the Gemini. So the midway existed before Gemini, but was extended to reach Frontier Town when Gemini was built.

If you don't like it, Shut Up and don't get in line.

Oops sorry, I should even know Witches' Wheel was installed in 1977 as this will be my second year working the wheel..... And I should have remembered Corkscrew with is RED White and Blue coloring for America's Bicentennial. I guess we are all entitled to some dumb forgetfullness from time to time. ;) Thanks Dan :)

Dragstrip would be cool. But I think it should remain Gemini Midway. I mean, they didn't rename it when Magnum moved in, it remained Gemini, I don't think TTD should be any different, IMO that is. :)

Metallica, Magnum and Mountain Dew, and finally turning 21...what could be better?
