Man...I haven't been to these forums since my last season at Cedar Point, back in 2003.
I only worked two seasons...'02 and '03...but I gotta tell you, those were the best days of my life. It was a blast.
I really miss working at Cedar Point. I keep having instances where I listen to a certain song and it brings back a memory as simple as drive down the road near Meijer (US-250, right?) and then I miss being there.
I miss hanging out in Commons, just chilling and laughing with friends and crewmates. I remember a friend who worked on the Witches Wheel telling me a story of a guy with Tourette syndrome who kept uttering obscene phrases. "Go to car number 5 plea-" "TITTY F***ER!!!"
I wish I could go back and enjoy another season, but I don't ever see that happening. I've gotten a full-time position at my job here in Oregon, and if I leave, there's no guarantee that I'll be able to get it back.
I doubt anyone here remembers me...I worked Thunder Canyon during most of '02, and came back to TC in '03, but transferred to Demon Drop early in the season.
All I gotta say to all you new ride operators coming in...you'll have a blast. Enjoy it while you can.
Believe me. If I could spend the rest of my life working for Cedar Point, I would.
Dunno what else to say...I just really miss that place.
EDIT: Does anyone know if Naomi Bell is still working there? When I visited the park last year in June, I was told she was a Supervisor, but I never saw her. Is she still there? I had a HUGE crush on her...and she new it. *** Edited 4/10/2005 10:46:35 PM UTC by DJ Wiza***
I am almost positive I met you, DJ. This is totally random, but I went to BW3's once with a friend of yours I was hooking up with, Steven, and you. (If you don't have a friend named Steven from Oregon then nevermind). But yeah anyway, howdy.
Anyway, I really miss CP too. '03 was my last year as well. It was an awesome experience, all around. Even though it is not remotely practical, I keep thinking about how I want to return someday. I'm planning this big move to Cali at the end of the year, and still my brain keeps wondering how I can make my way back to lil ole Sandusky. CP always stays with you...I will always think of that place as my home. I plan on going up to visit as soon as possible. :)
That was probably me alright...I do have a friend named Steve and he lives just a couple miles away from my apartment here in Oregon.
Cedar Point feels like a home to me. When I visited last year, I had a friend of mine who was still working there take me into Commons, and it nearly brought a tear to my eye. I felt like I was at a place I could truly call home...like an adult revisiting the place he lived during his childhood years. Memories were just flying back at me.
It almost brings a tear to my eye now as I type it.
If I could have things my way, I would go back and never leave. I've never had fewer cares and worries about my life than when I was at Cedar Point.
I might visit the park next year sometime in '06, but it won't be the same unless I know someone that works there and can take me back into Commons.
*sigh*
Does the DJ that worked Raptor in '03 (And other years, I'm sure) still work there? I don't remember his last name. He was a slightly-larger kind of guy with glasses, and always wore a CP sweater while working (To cover up his tattoos, I'm guessing, never foudn out for sure). He used to post here under the name "djdj".
I know what you mean...I visited CP last year, and just driving past Commons almost made me cry. Leaving the park at night and actually going home to another state, instead of over the causeway just felt...wrong. *tear*
Holy Cow tell Steve I said hi!!! I'm Amanda and I worked with him in restrooms '03. I ended up leaving early, and without warning, when I got sick again. I had SO much fun with him, even though he broke my heart. Haha, he wasn't the first CP guy to do that, so just another day at the office :) But please do tell him I said hello, and that he really helped make my summer so much fun.
Sorry to hijack the thread!
Yeah, DJ still works there as far as I know. He worked on Raptor and Gemini among other rides last year.
I believe DJ is a blue tag at Gemini this year....
Cedar Point, Americas rip- rockin', high flyin', sky defyin', record breakin' roller coast
I remember a friend who worked on the Witches Wheel telling me a story of a guy with Tourette syndrome who kept uttering obscene phrases. "Go to car number 5 plea-" "TITTY F***ER!!!"
I had almost forgotten about this until you brought it up. That was so funny. I was rotating over and todd told me what happened, I just about died laughing. Ahh those were some good times.
Hey DJ,
I dont know if you remeber me or not. I started dating one of your roommates, Jeff., the first year that you were there. You guys lived in 1005. I remeber you being the goofy guy from Oregon (state cause there is an Oregon, Ohio) who loved roller coasters. I worked in Food Services in Wagons. That next year, i was there also but i dont think i saw you at all.
Alicia
Hey allie_miller, I'm workin the midway carts this year, can you tell me how it was when you did it? Was it fun, boring, or what ever?
Working at Wagons, (as we called them) it depends on the wagon and how busy you are.. Some days you will have constant customers all the time other days you may only have a few.. Its a job where you have be able to amuse your self.. you have a great seat to sit and people watch, which i enjoyed. The wagons can be heavy to push out but most of the time you will have help with that so its not too bad. When it rains you usually dont have to work so that nice but it can annoying when it rains a lot..
Man, I miss it too.. I worked there on Beach in 2003, and sadly, I feel like a part of me has been missing ever since I left there.. I had the most incredible time of my life there! My crew was awesome, my Sups were awesome, the friends I made there were just incredible people! I've been visiting here in Sandusky for the past 2 weeks, and I tell ya, I realize how much I have missed it (minus the drama, lol).. It's been SO good to see everybody, go to Louie's again, and just straight up have the fun I used to have.. I've recently gotten married and moved to New Mexico-as my hubby is stationed in the Air Force.. The only way I could ever go back is if he got stationed nearby.. But, I do feel ya on missing it there, because, I really really do as well :( Anyhow, I'll be here another couple of weeks, and then I'm leaving for New Mexico again *tear*.. Perhaps later in the summer I'll be able to come back.. but, doubtful until 2006..
