I just emailed Intamin

I would bet you Intamin would care if someone sues them over heath issues as in losing weight to fast, not eatting and so on. All just because of the 1 inch slack rule. And please don't say that not ture, look at all the bigger people who started to sue fast foods, anything can happen.

No, I'm not saying they wouldn't sue, but it'd be anger directed at the wrong individual(s). If you can't live without a coaster so much so that you have to starve yourself just so you are thin enough to ride it, that's a psychological issue that you need to work out for yourself. You should be losing weight and acheiving a healthy body mass index for your own personal health and well being, not so you can fit on a ride.

Ok Mr. Know it all!!! Since you think you know my body or anyones body so well, Maybe you should have your own TV show and show us how to lose weight since in your case its a psychological issue. Dude, you have know Idea what you are talking about. You are still wet behind the ears, ok?? if you want to know I am a wrestler like WWE. I'm in pretty good shape, I'm muscular, waist size 40, bench around 350 and so on. I never ever had this much trouble getting on MF and TTD before. The "T" bar goes over my leggs well. Now, my friend that was there tonight (also a wrestler) is skinny. He has a 36 inch waist and very toned. He also had trouble getting that 1 inch slack!!! Now my friend, answer this question: Opening day I fit in the test seat fine, 1 inch slack or alil more if I pulled harder. So I got on MF and I could not buckle the belt. The guy who saw me fit even told everyone that I fit in the test seat. Now, since I could not buckle the belt I was kicked off. So I went back this past Thursday and now I can't pull the 1 inch on the seat. I have lost around 30 or more pounds since last month. Now who should I direct more anger to CP or Intamin?? Sounds like to me both parties just because that Intamin wants CP to pick up the bill if they change the seats, Cp wants Intamin to pick up the bill. Why can't they both pay half the bill and or come up with a better Idea to make everyone happy??

JuggaLotus knows what I am saying...

A conventional seat belt operates as follows: You extend the belt to its full length, fasten the ends together, and pull on the dead end of the strap. The belt passes through an adjuster plate, which is configured like a ratchet. Pulling the dead end of the strap opens the ratchet, and the reverse tension on the belt forces it closed; in fact the tighter you pull the belt, the harder the adjuster plate pulls against the belt to clamp it in place.

The belts on Millennium Force use a buckle that is constructed without a sliding adjuster plate. The belt can pass freely through the adjuster so long as the belt enters and exits at a right angle to the buckle frame. When the buckle is fastened, the belt is forced out parallel to the buckle, which clamps it firmly in place. The practical upshot of this is that once you fasten the belt, you can't adjust it in either direction. It's quite secure, it won't cinch up or fall loose in operation, but it does not at all work with Cedar Point's method of operation.

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

why the hell does millennium force nead seat belts for? You don't get any air. So why did they shorten them for? Tight seat belts does not do nothing for safety. Lap bars does not work for fat people with big stomachs, shortening belts hurts people that are muscular because the belt goes over the thighs. Fat people with guts and just lift up their fat and let the belt pass under it which makes it easy if you are fat and have small thighs.

So then it DOES do something for safety.

lol, you don't need a seat belt for a ride like the force. When have you gotten enough air to throw yourself out of the seat?

3rd hill and on the camel back. It's not violent air, but without restraints, I can see floating up out of the car, especially with my hands up and when the car starts its turn back downward on the 3rd hill.
Besides, if you are saying there isn't enough air to eject from the car, why have lap bars? By your theory, no restraints are necessary at all.
The seatbelts are meant to be a backup to the bars. IF (and its a big IF) the bar should release, then the belt is there to keep you in your seat. Granted, the current system of one inch of knee-jerk reaction is a bit much, and doesn't increase the functionality of the seat-belt, however the belt is a necessary part of the overall safety system.

a lap bar is all you need and a regular safety belt cause the seat belt is the secondary safety device. i am sure i could ride the force with no restraints at all because the way it is made your body never shifts from side to side due to the perfect banking. The body's center of gravity stays in the center of the seat.

and you've done the measurements and calculations to be sure of this? Besides, its not the side to side you have to worry about, its the up and out.

Bottom line, longer seatbelt, go-no go light on lap bar, end of story.

Until you make this into something a lot more coherent, the only response you'll be getting out of me is this.

Those Go/No-Go lights are pretty neat actually. They installed them onto Xcelerator, and I think it'd be a great thing to see at the Point on MF.

Guess I better start practicing sucking my gut in... one two three HOLD.... :)

"Bring back the Penguins!"

bholcomb - How far down does the bars on Xcelerator need to go down before the light switches to "go"?

It's not really a light. The ones on Xcelerator are more like a level. It's got a little window that shows the indicator and once it rolls over from red to green, you're set. It really didn't have to be down that far. I mean, it was tight, but no tighter than you'd expect it to be for a ride of that type.

This is what is going to happen: Some scrawny fool is going to pull all the slack in the seatbelt out in hopes of getting "better air time". The lap bar is going to let get go and he/she is going to go flying out of the train. I pray it doesn't happen and I pray it doesn't happen at Cedar Point.

The roller coaster industry (including Intamin) will wake up and realize at that point that the length of the seat belt doesn't matter.

Take a hint from the OTRS system: You need a second (and third if necessary) back up that will keep the primary (lap bar) restrait in place.
