I Have To Wonder... in a power outage

Well, me and my friends were talking about Millennium Force. Usually, we talk about our trips. This time was different. This is a question that really stumped me.

How would it react to a power outtage? One of my friends suggested that a generator would kick in. Any ideas or answers?

It would probably run out of power;)

I remember during the big power outage the people were on the hill forever, i left before i saw what happened though

Millennium Force has a generator so they can pull the train over the top of the lift if they have to.

I remember when the power outage happened over last summer. Millenium Force had a generator which pulled the train over and then it ran through the ride.
I worked last year on Mine Ride during the big power outage. M/F was not stuck no longer than ten minutes. It does have a back up generator to make the train go over the hill. Funny thing is, after about three hours after the outage a radio station said people were still stuck on rides. In fact every one was unloaded safely in adout a half hour. Funny how rumors start.

The only ride I would have hated to be stuck on is Power Tower at the top.

And before when the cable snapped, they brought up some little carrier thing (ever notice how there's no rails on the steps?) that goes up and down and takes forever. But people on Magnum I were walking down. I also have to wonder what would happen if Magnum was starting to go down the hill but just the front and the back was on the chain lift. I imagine they would just have to wait it out with no stairs by the side.

The steps on the lift hill go over the top a little, so any position the train can stop at has steps. If the train goes further than that, gravity would send it down the hill to the block brakes after the last tunnel.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

A question....

How on earth do they get people off Raptor if there was a power outage?

There is a cart that comes up underneath you. I've never seen it work but I've seen it sit there. There is stairs on the side of the lift too if i'm not mistaken.

there is the little elevator that still needs electricity to work and ther are some stairs at the top that go just a little bit down the other side of the hill.

On Raptor, the funicular vehicle is gasoline powered. As is the backup motor on Sky Ride.

Apparently the only ride that is really difficult to get people off in a power outage is Space Spiral.

So is that the small track underneath you on Raptor. Where do they store it

It's right there. You can see it as the train pulls on to the lift, or from the ground, or from the station.

I can only imagine getting stuck on the Space Sprial. *shudder*

I would have hated being on space spiral during that big power outage. How exactly do they evac space spiral when there is a pwoer outage or soemthing else that causes the ride to get stuck up the tower? I've heard that there is a hand crank somewhere, and I've heard that there is a ladder inside the tower that goes upt he length of the tower
From what I heard last year, they have to hand crank it down and it takes forever.

I remember hearing about said crank, but I've never seen it used. In my time working the ride, it's been stuck just a bit above the platform (20 ft. or so), but the power came back on before they had to manually bring it down. The ladder inside the tower is for maintenance only, as far as I'm aware. There' no way to get outside once you're in it.

It wouldn't be that bad at all, PT has an auxillery tank in case of an emergency that would have enough air to bring the car down slowly. PT is probably one of the easiest rides to evac during a power outage.

I was wondering how space spiral would be evacuated during a power outage, i hear it can get hot in the cabin when the AC isnt working, and since Maniaman mentions a crank to bring it down and that it takes a long time, i would really hate to be inside the cabin
