I am brand new and have about 9 million questions

Hey everyone(: My name is Becky and I was just hired for the 2012 season on Friday as a park sweeper. And I'm not really sure where else to post all these questions so I figured I'd start my own.

1. Can you hang things on the walls in the dorms/apartments?

2. Do you suggest a dorm or apartment?

3. Is it better to find a roommate before hand?

4. What's the layout of the dorms/apartments?

5. Is it better to buy shoes before you get there?

6. What's there to do in Sandusky besides Cedar Point?

7. I was told I may be working rides as well? What exactly do they mean by that?

8. Best places to get groceries?

9. What should I pack? What shouldn't I pack?

10. Why is there not a facebook group for us yet?! And if there was one made would people join it?

If you can answer any or all that'd be great and I can't wait to work with everyone!

Hi! And welcome!

1. Yes. Honestly, I would completely recommend it, otherwise you'll feel like you're in a jail cell all summer.

2. Yep! You can choose what complex you'd want to live in. Although, not all of the buildings may be open when you process in.

3. It's up to your preference. Both of my years, I've found my roommates before hand.

4. There's little layout pictures on your Jobnet, I believe.

5. Definitely buy shoes before you come. Wardrobe shoes are very uncomfortable. By no means, spend $100 on a pair of shoes for the summer, because shoes don't last very long. I usually go through two pairs per summer.

6. There's a lot of stuff to do! Movies, mall, food, clubs, kalahari, etc.

7. Sweeps are a part of ride operations. Depending on need for the summer, you could get cross trained on rides within your area, depending on who hired you. Debra is area 1, meaning from main gate to sky ride east. Brian is area 2, from matterhorn triangle to magnum / millennium. Steve is area 3, which is everything beyond those rides.

8. I honestly never really go shopping all that much. Most of my meals come from the cafe or eating out with my crew.

9. Don't over pack. For the most part, you'll be wearing your uniforms. Bring maybe a couple of outfits, hoodies, and comfortable shoes. I'd advise against bringing that many expensive electronics.

10. There is.

How do I get to the jobnet thing? I feel absolutely useless with all of this ahahahah

Go to where you applied online and enter your email and password on already started 2012 application/return users. Once you are in under the general information(which is on the left side) click housing infomation. Once you have done that you can either click "Facilities" on the top of the page or the bottom and it will give you all the housing options, pictures and layouts. I hope that helps

They haven't updated me yet, so hopefully that comes tomorrow. Another couple questions for you: how did you survive the first two weeks without getting paid and can you switch your job once you're there? I'm happy with park sweep I love doing jobs people normally don't but if I could experience something else that'd be cool

I just had what was remaining from my paychecks from my off season job, to get me through

but I would recommend to bring enough or have enough that you can buy food, and little things that you might want to buy once there.

With extra uniforms stuff you may want to buy from wardrobe can be taken from your paycheck.

Shoes I would recommend getting them before hand, with these types of jobs with ride ops and foods your on your feet for at least 8hrs moving around.

Foods are all black shoes and everybody else is white shoes

Also there is a group for employees 2012 on facebook

I'm really scared I'm going to starve... How does laundry work? Like for my uniform and my human clothes?

Uniform is handled by the company, turn in one uniform at Wardrobe before or after work (depending on when your schedule and Wardrobe's match up) and they give you a clean one. There are pay washers and dryers at housing, don't know how expensive it is.

Eating is really not that bad, at most you have 3 weeks before you get your first check. Bring enough money to pick up some microwave meals to get you through the first few weeks. Or the Cafe is not that expensive. A slice of pizza and a drink is under $5.

Wardrobe will wash your uniform for you, your human clothes can either be washed with the cp washing machines at commons or wherever you live, or you can go to a laundromat

Just remember that for most jobs at the park, you'll be on your feet on concrete for your entire shift, so good shoes are well worth the money. As someone else mentioned, I had to buy new shoes in early July because my first pair had completely broken down and my feet hurt so much I could barely walk.

Also, roman noodles are like 17 cents a cup at Walmart, so you shouldn't worry about starving. :)

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I am processing in on March 19th, any advice? How much money should I bring ? Should I pack lots of clothes? Can I park my vehicle at my apartment?

Hello all, I am also a first timer this year. I will be working in Guest Services and I am really excited!
I really would rather not live in the employee housing (due to my own reasons) and I have done a lot of searching for apartments with little luck. If anyone knows of ANY apartments that rent from $300-$400MAX it would be greatly appreciated if you could let me know the information. I have only found one place so far that is willing to lease May-August. The price is decent, but I am still looking around for a better deal.

Thanks so much for any information that you can offer!

Can't wait to start my first season at Cedar Point!! :)
