How's Elyria?

Going to CP in May and I was thinking of staying my 1st of 4 nights in Elyria.
Is it a safe/hospitible place to stay?
Thanks.

It's probably fine, but you'll be quite a distance from the park. (30-40 minutes)

I work in Elyria, its not really that bad. Your about 20-30 minuets away. Did you have a particular place to stay in mind? I could help with what is around and such... Right now I can only think of about 5 major hotels and they are all within walking distance of the Mall which has a decent food court.

Econo Lodge 65/night. On Griswold Road. My next three are at Breakers at $466/night :(.

Ok, then your right in the heart of Downtown Midway Mall in Elyria. You are about 1m30s away from I-90/Route 2 and you will have about a 20-30 minuet drive to the point. There is no lack of places to eat, all of them sanitary, and well lit. All in all there are a lot more worse places then Elyria. Let me know how the stay was, since I live so close I won't ever stay there lol.

Yeah, I see the mall is close so I'm assuming a Chili's,
TGI Fridays or Applebees for a quick meal Saturday night.
Then a 7:30 AM sunday morning departure for a 9:00 AM
early guest entry to start a great 3 day vacation.

Thanks again for your response.

I might go for the Red Roof, Country Inn & Suites, or Best Western if prices are similar, but I imagine the Econo Lodge would be fine too. Since you're spending so much on Breakers, I understand why you're looking a little lower for the first night.

My friends and I regularly leave our cars in the mall parking lot and carpool to Cedar Point. You get right on I-90/SR 2 there, and it's at least 30 minutes to CP, if not a hair more (and we generally drive over the speed limit). Be sure to look for Lemmy in the water when crossing the Huron River!

And Allan, nothing personal, but as a lifelong resident of Elyria I have to chuckle a bit at the term "downtown Midway Mall." :) Though it's true that's pretty much where downtown moved to once the mall was built.

I just moved to North Ridgeville about 10 years ago, so its just my nature to call it downtown midway mall. lol. ;)

As for time, I usually go about 75ish and make it there in just about 25 minuets. (now thats without the traffic getting in to the parking lot)
