Hello there! It seems like its been forever since I've been on here. But this is the 1st year we are going to CP alone, 18 = legal adults right? Ha, this is going to be a blast.
Anyways, last year when we were at lighthouse point, we showed up like 5 people from the entrance and they never asked or even checked if we were residents of the park! Is that a coincidence or like....what???
If you take a hotel outside of the park, do they like hold the island to certain people or what? Also, any good hotel suggestions would be awesome....thanks!
I <3 DMB
They usually don't check on opening day and for a few days after that, but I know when I was there a few weeks ago they did check for a hotel pass or Joe Cool before they let you in. SO the later in the season you go, the less likely it is that you will get in without Joe Cool or a resorts pass.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
I know at the front gates where its blocked off by the sky ride, they do enforce it. At the Magnum entrance, its less enforced. I've only been asked to show my resort card thing 1 out of 3 times.

I only have used the Magnum gates, and it's been my experience that they ask the first few people, then there's a soccer mom who left hers "in the camper, oh my gosh can we still get in?????" then from there on they don't really check (after letting the mom in).
The way I see it, if you're willing to lie to the front gate (tell them you're going to Soak City/Camper Village), get in line, and have a ticket/pass already (all by 8:45, mind you), then go ahead and go in.
I would assume they're stricter at the front gate though, JC only up there.

So wait, I can still get in early with my JCC at the Magnum enterance?
Because if I can then Awsome!
I just havn't had a chance to go through the Magnum enterance with my JCC yet. *** Edited 7/2/2005 4:46:47 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

I hope for your sake that you aren't planning on using a CP hotel. Minimum age is 21, and if you're close, they'll check.

Yet another reason (the first being rides often aren't fully open on time for them) why people who purchased the Joe Cool Club feel they are being ripped off.

Yup. I have only been checked ONCE for my Joe Cool Card, and that was a long while ago. They were actually checking at Ride Entrances, and the line out of the entrance was really long while they checked for cards/Joe Cool Club.
They checked June 23rd, the one time I didn't have a resort pass/JCC because they had never checked them in the past....my luck.

Then why would they get them? If you know fully what a JCC pass can get for you then you should know that you get in the park early and that Millennium and Dragster are the coasters you can get on early....amoung other things. It dosn't mention that you can get on all the rides early. But I suppose that not all people who fully read into what a JCC provides knows exactly what they can and cannot do with it. But I mean if they know it gets you in the park early then they should also know the rest.
I guess thats just not the case for everybody.
P.S. Thanks Grady!

I'm not totally sure if this is what you meant or not (it was worded kinda wierd), but if you don't know, you can only go on TTD, MF, and maXair early. Just want to clear that up, seems to be some confusion (or maybe I just need better comprehension).
Also, a lot of people are making comments about the rides not being open. Maybe I'm just lucky, but every time I've been there I've gotten 2+ rides on Dragster and most of the time one on Millennium, and I've never seen it down even if I don't go on it. My point is that... from my experience, they aren't as down as everyone says they are. Sure, Top Thrill has an occasional rollback or 15 minute holdup, but never anything serious.

I'm thinking he meant that Joe Cool Club members are being ripped off by being promised 'Exclusive' ride time, and anyone being let into the park to ride during the 'Exclusive' ride time.
I did like the front gate much better when Joe Cool and Resorts had their own line to stand in. Now I have to wait in a regular line so they can sell doughnuts! That cuts about 5 mins off the morning ride time right there. Anyway, not complaining, I would buy Joe Cool regardless and I love getting in early - anytime I don't have to wait in the Millenium Force line is golden nowadays.

Yeah I guess I did word that kind of weirdly. When I said "among other things" I was actually referring to the other privileges(or whatever you want to call them) that come with the JCC pass besides an early Dragster or Millennium ride. Like " BUY ONE SHOT, GET ONE SHOT FREE, BUY ONE GAME, GET A SECOND GAME FREE, $2 OFF ANY RIDE PHOTO PURCHASE(which they give out anyway), BUY TWO PINS, GET ONE FREE, GET THE BEST SEATS AT AN AWARD-WINNING SHOW, FREE FRIES AT COASTERS DRIVE-IN, 25% OFF AT THE BREAKWATER CAFE, SAVE AT THE FRONTIER INN, SAVE AT THE MIDWAY MARKET, and SAVE ON AN OVERNIGHT STAY AT HOTEL BREAKERS". That's allot of privileges!! Go here for full details: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/trips/tickets/season_pass_central/articles.cfm?page=Special%20Offers
And thanks for clearing that up a bit bholcomb, I was a little confused by the way he worded his post. But I can see how that does makes sense. How JCC members would feel like they have been ripped off seeing all of these people using up their "exclusive ride time" that aren’t even JCC members (right?). Although I can't say that I feel that way. I'm just happy that I can get in early and that I have a choice of riding my 2 favorite coasters. I'll run to Dragster or Mill if I have to. I normally don’t now since I have a JCC pass.:P *** Edited 7/3/2005 3:30:43 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

Joe Cool Club is really a rip off. The only reason I keep getting it is for 'ERT' and to put my parking pass on my season pass.
'scuse me for getting back on topic for a sec. I almost always use the WT entrance, and they may or may not check for resort passes, depending on who's working at the gate. There are two older women who open there frequently. They are very friendly, and will check every person in line for resort or Joe Cool passes. I've seen a few younger employees open there on other days and they didn't check anybody, nor did they create separate lines for tickets and passes.

I don't think that Joe Cool is really worth it anymore. The "benefits" have become a joke, especially the early rides. I doubt I'll give them my money next year.
