I give it a D-
If I were cp, I would be ashamed of the park this weekend.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Most of the rides that were down yesterday was indeed due to wind. After riding Maverick and a FEW other things, I decided to cut my loses and make an early ride home. My advice to you elainesj is to wait a few weeks after opening weekend to go to the point if you don't want to be disappointed. Because usually the weather is better and the rides are running more smoothly. Though if the weather wasn't as bad as it was yesterday, there probably would have been many more rides running.A cold, wet and windy day after opening day isn't the best combination. Sorry to hear about the amount of planning you put into the day.
You're right - I think i will pay a lot more attention to the weather (AND skip opening weekend!!) after this one. Like i said, we had fun so it wasn't a complete bust - but it wasn't worth the trip.
I posted a full TR :)
I guess it was one of those days where everything bad that could happen, did happen. Oh well - it can only get better, right? I'm very excited about our Platinum Passes and hoping for lots of fun all summer long!
You will, there's no worries there.:) The first week is usually the worst. Of course there are a few things that will hopefully change before the summer season kicks off ::cough cough:: entrance ops ::cough cough::. And there nothing we can do about the weather when planning a future trip. Heck, I probably could have just slept in yesterday and gone home seeing how poopy it was. But I still had fun the 5 hours I was in the park. Plus I managed to try Pinks.....which I DO like a lot.

I bet a lot of it was weather. I stayed overnight Saturday at the marina and it was miserable just walking from my boat to my car Sunday morning. Have to give you a lot of credit for staying in the park Sunday, the weather was about as miserable as it gets during the operating season.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
We ended up waiting 2 hours for Maverick in the morning and it was FAR more miserable than the 7 hours I waited for Dragster the day before. It was just soo cold, wet and windy. Terrible, terrible day to be at the park........

I think Sunday was the worst weather day I have ever spent at the park. I have put up with 36F days. I have put up with hot/humid days. But the combination of the continuous wind, damp, cold, mist was not fun.
"It's a crock of sh**." Gotta love it. :) lol.

That gives me lots of hope then. I actually didn't find the weather to be bad at all. Damp and it spit all day, yes. But it never downpoured. A heavier rain would have been awful - but spit I can deal with. We brought ponchos and never bothered to pull them out.
We were prepared for the weather and bundled up warmly in thick fleece, spring jackets, hats and gloves and had no issues walking around outdoors all day. It got pretty windy, particularly by the water during the last half of the day. We were comfortable though because we were prepped. We shivered at the girls in short shorts! Most folks wore hoodies and looked cold.
I had a great time this weekend especially on Saturday. I had some great conversations with other enthusiasts especially inline for Raptor. Saturday night I rode 6 laps on Rpator in the front row in under an hour. For the first time in 19 years attending CP, the ride op let us ride one more time on Raptor after coming into the station. I also think the fog on Magnum was one of the best rides Ive ever had on magnum. Overall a great weekedn that wasnt spoiled by the weather. As I always say, when fun fun isnt provided...make your own.
Was there Saturday from 10:30am to 5pm(when rain started). Didn't do any rides because of sore back and walked the park 2 times. Kept a string of Opening Day attended going, now at 16. Even thou I wasn't able to ride, I enjoy being at the Point when there's an unusual condition-FOG. Fog was unusual with the high rides going up into the fog. The randomness of so many rides running/not running was unusual for a Point opening day. The important thing-FINALLY OPEN after 6 months of 'withdrawal'. Looking forward to eating at Pink and DQ.

Opening day went well! As you mentioned the Entrance ops could use some improvement. I am 5'9" 260 lbs, with an 11" Mohawk ontop of my head. Mind you I processed my pass 5 minutes before entering the gate, I was questioned about my picture LMFAO. Everything seemed to be alright besides the average guest whining about maverick not being up the first minute the ride was opened. Was the first rider in line for Mean Streak, waited for 45 mins. then somehow got line jumped by a younger teen whop had worked there before. Holding my G/F back from getting her pass revoked was no fun lol all in al it was a great weekend. Sundays weather was a GREAT day for flat rides! Just got back from MI Adventure today. not a bda trip either. happened to go on physics day. The middle school kids were a good source of entertainment ;)
I was at the park Friday and was so happy to see the return of enterance positions on Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster. They also have station crowd control too.

Great news! I knew it wouldnt last long. It's like not having checkpoints at borders. Sure it may seem like a "good" idea when faced with budgeting, but at what point do you cross the line? Soon you'd have a huge increase in drug and immigration trafficking with no one to stop it. Though instead of drug and immigration trafficking, it's loose articles and height/waste size trafficking. :)

Well I'm a hardcore person. In fact, I'm listening to Metallica on Pandora right now......don't get much more hardcore than that. ;)

It would be if you were eating raw babies while you were listening to Metallica on Pandora. Even better: with nothing to drink to wash them down. ;)

Broken Point!
I tell ya this year might be the worst for rides and reliability. Everything is down.
TTD down multiple times for repair.I would dare say it was down more than it was running on 5/22
Magnum had a train stuck on the lift hill in excess for 20 minutes on 5/22
Raptor down for more than 1 hour on 5/21
Millennium Force down briefly during my wait in line on 5/22 and had a train stuck on the lift hill on 5/21.
Maxair is obviously not working.
Windseeker....watching it go up and down
Iron Dragon was even closed on 5/22
I was just disappointed overall with this whole situation. TTD is becoming a "challenge coaster". The ride is 17 seconds long. I don't even bother the darn thing if it has more than a 30 minute wait.....because it will probably break down if you are stuck in that line for more than 30 minutes.
Also you could definitely tell the staff is still getting in to the rhythm of it, maybe more so than other years.
What a warm and toasty 5/22 though! By 10:10 A.M I had 3 rides in on Maverick. Called it quits by 3pm after getting soaked on Shoot the Rapids. Nice ride really. I am pleased with the addition to CP. Went and sat by the Breakers pool and watched Top Thrill...not run. Sat and watched it for a while. I didn't see it run. After seeing Top Thrill not run and temperatures/lack of cloud coverage we decided to head for the car and get home at a decent hour. The sun was realllly beating down on the point today.
Very slow day though. Despite so many rides being down...lines were 15-30 minutes in length. We left Maverick with less than a 15 minute wait at 10:10.
Like I mentioned it was really disappointing to see the troubles. When you have reduced your CP fix to just 1x a year....you really hope for 2 nice days and some working rides.
