Can I get away with bringing in some snacks (granola bars, peanut butter crackers, etc.)? I have a two-year old, so it would be in the diaper bag-do they do a bag check? Disney has a no outside food policy and a bag check, bu we were able to bring in some small snacks every day with no issues-does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!
I dont think CP has ever checked me when I brought my draw string bag in the park. But thigs could change with the new CEO. Its worth a try. If they find it in your bag, just leave it over at the picnic shelter.
With regards to getting bags checked and stuff, I wonder if we'll see metal detectors with the new CEO.

In the past, Cedar Point has done bag inspections, but not consistently. That really surprises me because Cedar Fair is very stern on safety, and they are the only park chain (excluding the old Paramount Parks) not to have metal detectors or inspections. Kings Island has at least 15 detectors that are never used; maybe Cedar Point could get some of those...
Even the old Paramount's aren't using them consistantly. Everytime I've been there at park opening, they weren't checking much. I doubt the detectors were even on. If they were, the tolernce was set higher than usual.

When I was at Kings Island last summer, we walked through the metals detectors and I didn't hear it beep at a single person. Later in the day I saw a guy walking and dropped a (roughly 3 inch) foldable knife on the ground, pick it back up and walk away with his friends. Sadly, I think the detectors are there for the scare tactic.

Also, back on topic... I have brought food (and a few drinks) in the park contained in my backpack several times and no one has noticed. I find that the front entrance to the park usually checks your bags, but only peaks. Whereas the challenge park entrance usually lets you fly through. Also they tend to check bags more at the beginning of the day as opposed to later in the afternoon. And depending on the worker, as I've found from expirence, some let you just walk in drinking a pop or eating out in the open. So you never know. The worst they would do was tell you no...

I've worn my Camera backpack into the park several times. They've never stopped me. Most people wouldn't realize it was a camera bag. For all they knew it was stuffed full of Twinkies and Mt. Dew.

2yr old...you will have a stroller so I just say bring what you want to snack on...I have NEVER been searched. Diaper bag in the bottom of the stroller will work just fine. We take a bike trailer/stroller into the park and my twin 4yr olds eating out of a bag of pretzels or chips right out in the open, open water bottles in the cup holders, other goodies stashed behind their seat,, never had anything said to us. Just be smart about it and you should be fine.

I can promise you that we don't allow food in Soak City, and don't try to bring a cooler in. As for main gate, I agree with the above posts!
Eh, I've brought food into SC more than a couple times with no problem. Just stick it under the towels.

^It really isn't any more harder to get food into Soak City than Cedar Point. On plenty of occasions last summer I saw families chowing down with outside food. Heck, one day this family had an entire meal from Dominos, must have been 3 pizzas, wings and breadsticks.
The park policy says that you can bring in unopened bottled water as well as special diet/NEED items. You could claim some of your items are needed for your 2 year old. With the policy stated that way I would say that it is open for interpretation. What you might consider a NEED item, they might not.
EDIT: Talking about this with a friend right now and he remembered the time we came in the West Gate by Splash Zone and a family had a whole spread of Taco Bell on the lounge chairs right next to the gate.
In the last couple of years I have always brought in a diaper bag (in the bottom of the stroller) and never been searched. I have diabetes and also must have some kind of juice or snack with me at all times. You can bet I'd throw a fit if given a hard time about it.
One time I did have a reusable water bottle in my hand and was asked to dump it out in the bushes and told I could refill it once I entered the park. I have never been asked to dump out a sippy cup when going through the gate, though.
I am also curious how things may change with a new CEO.
I don't think policies like this will change much. It is a very similar policy to what is used across the industry. Plus if he did make changes, they would probably reflect the policy that Disney follows now.

What? Kings Dominion has had metal detectors for years now, lol.
What? Why'd you bring this topic back just to make that point?
