I don't want to spend any of the money that I make this summer so how much money should I bring in order to not cut into my earnings this summer? I won't be going on trips and etc. I will most likely be going out to dinner a few times a week with my crew and eating breakfast and lunch everyday. And maybe a little bit of shopping every now and then. So would $2000 be enough? $3000?
Depends on which department you are working in. Ride host seem to have the most hours, while the other departments still get a good amount of hours. I expect to make between $3,500 and $4,000 before factoring in food cost and one trip I think I will take.

I will be working here for the first time as well, but I think I'll do what I can to clarify here. I believe that essentially what she's asking is: How much does food, laundry, housing, etc. cost throughout the summer? Essentially, if she weren't being paid, how much money would she need to survive the summer?
My guess is that your parents plan to cover those expenses so you can use the rest for whatever you'd like, and you'd like to know how much to ask for. Is that accurate? Or am I totally misreading the situation. If I'm right, I may have a solution for you, but I may have a solution if I'm NOT right either. But before I can help you, I'd have to know WHY exactly you want to know this. =)
Yes! You're exactly right music therapy! And I want to know because I plan to spend my earnings this summer on a car and a new laptop and maybe (just maybe) some expenses for college. So I need to know how much money to ask my parents for in order to "survive" lol.
I had kind of figured =)
I assume you have a bank account, yes? One option would be to ask for a few hundred dollars at a time and have them deposit in your account for you. I know for sure that with PNC, if you give them your account number, they can make deposits but not withdrawls, so you don't have to worry about that sort of thing if that might be an issue with them. I don't know if it will necessarily work for you, but it's worth a shot. Maybe ask for 200-300 and see how long that lasts you. For one, that puts less stress on your parents' wallets (I'm assuming they don't have stockpiles of cash lying around, although if they do, tell them you need about 50k and share with me, eh? ;D) and it also means you won't be asking them for 500 to start out the season and then later running out, or asking for 5k and ending up pocketing their money. Another option would be to tally your spendings and show your parents after the fact, though in my experience most parents are much less willing to reimburse you AFTER you're making money, so that could end up not working in your favor.
In any case, it looks like expenses will look like this:
About $40 a week for housing. This comes out of your check right away, but if you've got an arrangement with your parents, maybe you can work that out somehow.
-Food, I am unclear on--maybe someone who has been there for a while can give us an idea of what it costs weekly?
-I've been told everything from "laundry is cheap" to "laundry is free," so I'll put it this way: I spend about $7 to do all of my laundry right now, which I do every two weeks. If you have more laundry or if you're really strict about separating whites, blacks, every individual color, and your delicates, it'll cost you a lot more no matter where you are.
Other than that, your money should pretty much be yours from what I can tell.
Well last summer, I had 1000 worth of birthday money before I processed in, that pretty much covered everything I needed to move in (so bedding, food, towels..) and plenty of crew outings. I however, went out with people pretty much every night so I went through that pretty fast.
I do have a credit card that my dad lets me use for food, and I probably dont put more than 200-300 on it a month, so, if that give you any idea.
