So, I've noticed that some mornings there appears to be a LOT of people online. Take a look at this picture:

Is this accurate, or is there something strange going on with PB?

What difference does it make?
Jeff - Advocate of Great Great Tunnels™ - Co-Publisher - PointBuzz - CoasterBuzz - Blog - Music
No difference at all. Curiousity is my only motivation - I was just wondering if it is an issue that only I experience.

Why so hostile Jeff?? Just asked a simple question.

So...
I suppose I'll ask others to chime in. Does anyone else ever see an absurd amount of people listed in the online members list? Or is it just my browser/PC/account/bad luck?
Brandon
Yes, It's something (that assume is broke in the code) that doesn't work here, either.

Don't pretend you know anything about me by reading five words.
I'm just tired of coming here and finding nothing interesting to read.

Haha, it's your site. Give us something interesting to read.

Nice, except that there really isn't anything out of the ordinary going on at the park. They are just prepping for next season. Testing should begin in a few days, and with each new ride thats seen testing on a webcam there will be a thread started by a kid with 7 posts that's titled "OMG (ride name here) IS TESTING!!!!!!" and we will have to sort through each one waiting for a mod to delete it while all the noobs discuss the implications of the ride testing so early or so late.
The same topics keep coming up with different wording, and they are all about either 2007, or what T&T said in their post not related to 2007, that could be a trick to really be what 2007 is about or what ride (alternating between DT and MS) should be removed to make room for something else. Its no wonder Jeff (and I'm sure others) are tired of hoping for some intelligent discussion and they keep getting lambasted with the same recycled garbage.

Goodbye MrScott
John
I have 11 posts wow. I dont spend my whole day on this website does that mean that all the people who dont post much should be treated like crap. Im not trying to be an but why everytime someone posts something, other people are out their to criticize and act like their always right. Sometimes people post stuff that is stupid. I have relized that I have started two topics about new blogs from onpoint, but that was because i thought that it was interesting and it was something new. One other reason why i dont make many posts is because when you say something their is always someone who has to make a comment about how stupid it is. I hope i didnt spell anything wrong. *** Edited 4/4/2006 9:58:51 PM UTC by SkYhAwK***
And I pointed out to you, in what I thought was a fairly nice manner, that we already have a thread discussing blog posts, and it is much easier to keep similar discussion in one thread. It keeps the discussion focused, rather than having to remember what the current discussion in each blog thread is about.
And while spelling is a peeve of mine, I easily overlook typos, those aren't a big deal. But someone who has 4,5,6... mis-spellings in their posts repeatedly isn't even making an attempt to try and make their posts legible (especially when they omit punctuation).
Lastly, this is a message board. Part of discussion is having both sides of an issue presented. That also means opinions are expressed. Is my opinion that what someone else said is moronic (for x, y and z reasons) any more or less important than their opinion? No, its not.
If you can back up your opinion then no matter what, at least you have made a claim and given people something to understand it by. This also gives them specific points to counter-point with, thats a part of debate. If you can't back it up, well, expect someone to call you on it.
The last thing is, don't take a computer message board too seriously. We're all here to have a good time. Just keep the Posting Guidelines in mind while you are here. I know I've made mis-steps along the way, but I also know I didn't start my account and come in insulting long standing members and breaking every rule I can find as some have been prone to do.
Goodbye MrScott
John
Ok i understand that and at the time when i posted the stuff i didnt see it anywere else on the forums. Im going to delete them right now. Im 16 and it doesnt feel like new people are wanted on this site. I cant even count how many times that i go on this site each day, that is how much i like this site and cedarpoint. I have been reading everything i just dont always post stuff. I have been looking at this site since last summer, because that is when i noticed it. Im not mad at anyone and im not insulting anyone and i respect all of the members not just the long standing members.
It's unfortunate that you feel that way. I think this site is very welcoming of new members and feel that has been shown numerous times even in the last couple of weeks. New people also share some responsibility. You wouldn't go to a party and jump into the middle of a conversation. This is an established community. New members need to understand the rules and get a feel for things before jumping in. But that's not a PointBuzz problem. That's been going on for as long as Usenet has existed.
I believe strongly that we have one of the best message boards of any web site in this vast industry. We offer our members a fairly noise free board featuring an intelligent and mature community (which is all about how you approach things, and not about age, as shown by our many young posters who do a fine job contributing). And that's why we continue, as far as I can tell, to keep the pace as the fastest growing amusement park community - outside of the Disney sites, even after all these years.
We've averaged nearly 25 new signups a week over the last year. I think that speaks volumes for how all of you conduct yourselves in this community. People can tell by visiting that they're going to find quality conversations here. That's a credit to our members. I know there are some who will disagree with that (even to go on to bad mouth the site elsewhere), but there's no such thing as pleasing 100% of the people. Sometimes a bad experience, however unfortunate, will give someone the wrong impression.
As I explained last week in a PM to a member who raised a concern, some of our conflicts are personality driven and there is a fine line between inappropriate and just the person being who he/she is. I think the level of inappropriateness for a message board our size is very low. And, like I said, that's a credit to our members. A message board is kind of like its own little society. Problems between people are going to come up.
There is no way a community of this size can exist without having issues like this from time to time. Yes, we have some members who need to refrain from being vigilante moderators. There are other members who need to realize that while this isn't English class, punctuation and a spell check never hurt anyone. And still other members who need to understand that it's quality, not quantity that counts.
I'd invite anyone who has a concern to e-mail me.
Peace. Love. Blah Blah Blah :)

Anyway, what sort of topics are supposed to be in the Feedback and Help thread? Jeff, Jeff, Jeff. Take it easy! :)
2007 - Top Thrill Dragster
2005 - Magnum XL-200/Camp Snoopy/Monster/Witches Wheel
Walt, You know that I respect your opinion. But I do notice that new members opinion aren't as respected as the longstanding members opinions. But that is for good reason.
PointBuzz is "Not" very welcoming, but its no different then a new work place. If you don't follow the rules and respect the longstanding workers you will not be welcomed nor respected. Thats what I missed when I first joined this site. Take this from someone who was told about there bad grammar and how stupid some of my threads were. But it's all about growing up and learning how to act. If you don't like it life isn't going to be too good for you.
Now I do see some of the new members points, but as Walt has said that is the way they are, and if you really look at what they are telling you instead of throwing a fit because they didn't agree with you, you might learn something.
Anyway new members take this post for what it is worth and older members I hope this is close to what you guys have been trying to say to newer members just a bit more understanding and long approach

Jeff, There have been way more then 5 words to back up what MrScott is saying. (But I do see what you mean.)
