Mmm, skydiving. Easily the best $200 I've ever spent.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Let me just quote this as I feel nobody should be left out of the conversation. ;)

No, they are gunna built a new mall their and totally demolish CP all together.

the only people that are allowed to fly directly over it is the lifeflight people

Has it been a long time since you have visited CP? I see many small aircraft flying directly over the park every week. There is an airpoirt not too far away.

Let's go straight to the Merry-Go-Round!

i think they should stop at 550 ft. so noone gets hurt.
Yeah cuz falling from anything over 550ft would REALLY suck. I fell off Magnum once and thought to myself "I'm glad this is only 200ft high or I could really get hurt."

ROUNDABOUND.

Who cares? They grant variances for those sort of things. Certainly you've been in downtown Cleveland, or Detroit, or Chicago...

Those are also buildings. Used for differnet uses. Its differnet between an amusment park and a city. Citys are normally not in the way of flight paths. (besides the areas of airports IE JFK in NY and O'Hiare in Chicago) but even those are located on the out edge of the citys or by the ocean. I am going to give you the benifit that you may not fully understand the hole way that the FAA works so i let that go but the FAA would not grant and theme park/amusment park an sort of variances to the limits of the area. *** Edited 6/13/2004 12:09:57 AM UTC by Magnum Jeff***

Are you an FAA expert?

I suppose that you don't see all of the small aircraft that fly directly over the park everyday.

i see them too and i am not an expert by far but all i am saying is there is limits to how high you cna build up. Hell I don't even know what the limits are but all i said was that is a factor. If i remeber correctly the limit is 2000 feet so then thats where you get your big citys with high rises.

Whatever dude... there is no limit. Where there are limits, exceptions are made. Laws and rules aren't the words of God. The Stratosphere in Las Vegas is two or three miles from the airport, and it's over a thousand years old. If you aren't backing up your statements with fact, you're talking out of your ass.

Jeff, a thousand years old? I'm guessing you meant a thousand feet high.

It was built at the 909 foot level.

However, the freefall ride on top of the stratosphere probably does extend above 1000 feet. I'm not sure though.

You got the money and the land, Intamin will build anything you want.

I'm not sure I want to ride any more high Intmain rides anymore. I might get hit with flying cables.

The "drop ride" atop the Stratosphere Tower (The Big Shot) in LV is only about half the height of PT. But because it's built on top of a 1000+ foot tower, it really makes for an interesting experience. You don't "fall" you can only get shot up (like the red side of PT).

The Amazement Park

I always though (with roller coasters) that the sky is the limit and that companies would continue to make them higher and higher untill they do reach the limit.

I would like to have a battle of the wits with you...but you seem unprepared.

That's what I thought.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

I also agree, that was really funny!

How high can we go? Interesting question. I believe Sandor said back after MF, when asked a question about how hi they can go he said: it was endless, the factor was how much money the park has. Well he was mistaken for the most part. If dragster had been planned and engineered better then you may want to call up Intamin for the coaster the breaks 420. I wouldn't. Funny how Walter and Claude don't go that high. Perhaps they don't want to ruin their rep and name and make a unreliable ride. (not that some of their rides have had downtime, but not to the extent of Intamin).

Dragster will eventually get it's troubles worked out. The thing is, the only company willing to go that high is Intamin. It seems that the hydraulic motors don't like that much strain (heck at times I wonder if 10K horses is enough, and if there wasn't a big mistake in the amount of HP needed to get the train over the top). But they operate pretty well at lower heights, however I don't know how SR has been running, I doubt reliable. Anyway if I am breaking 420 I find some other company then Intamin and get it triple checked with a wide variety of engineers on the technology used and the reliability.

And yes doing that you would not get the same response. Some engineers would say reliability will be an issue some will say it would work fine.

But then again after all that, aren't we in the process of proving right now that higher doesn't make the best coaster???

You really can't say that it is limitless, at least I don't think so. Eventually, there will be heights, speeds, and G forces that are too much. And, what about enough support for structures? I am aware that there are taller things in life, but a skyscraper ain't the same as a coaster.
