When you get the job at CedarPoint do they just put you somewhere or do you get to choose?
Also,
How old do you have to be to stay at the dorms over the summer?

You may choose which department you wish you work in (rides, hotels, food, etc) and they will then place you where they see best fit according to their interview with you. You must be 18 or have graduated from high school to live in the dorms at the park.
2007 - Top Thrill Dragster
2005 - Magnum XL-200/Camp Snoopy/Monster/Witches Wheel
You have to be 18 or a high school graduate to stay in the dorms.
Generally you interview for a specific department/job but that doesn't necessarily mean you will get that job. Maybe you will interview for rides and they don't hire you so someone from games offers you a job instead.
Once hired but a specific department then you have little say in what specific assignment (ride, game, food stand) you end up at. You might get some "well, we'll do our best to put you ____" but if anyone guarantees you a location early on in the process I might be a little skeptical.

So can you refuse to work at a certain ride?
and
Are you in that same ride of the whole summer?
wish my birthday was at the start of the summer...instead of the end... :(

You COULD refuse to work a certain ride and they COULD refuse to hire you after all.
Generally a first year employee isn't going to be able to dictate the specific position they want. Unless you happen to be a very attractive young lady and you are being hired by a guy.
Oh, wait...that NEVER happens.

Praying for a rollback...
I think you could refuse to work a certain ride if you had a valid reason, such as something physical or medical. It's a pretty good possibility that you could get moved from ride to ride during the summer if help is needed elsewhere. Or you could be contracted to work one ride but arrive and discover they have moved you elsewhere because of staffing needs.
If rides is your targeted department, I don't think telling them in your interview (or at any point) that there are certain rides you flat-out refuse to be placed on will help you get hired. They want people who are flexible, and will go were they are placed without complaining. What you CAN do is let them know what ride or what type of ride you prefer to work. I think they do their best to accommodate everyone's wishes, although obviously if 80 people request Millennium Force, not everybody can get it.
yeah, I understand that everyone would want to work at the bigger rides.
I just don't want to work in the Food/clean-up area. (even tho I work at McDonalds now :) )
I'm really considering going to college to be an Engineer and design these things (rollercoasters), do you think if I put that in my interview I would have more likly a chance to work with the rides?
"Water will be involved." MrScott 2006
The first year I worked there I worked on Magnum and during my interview they asked me "What ride could I see myself working on?". I told my iterviewer that I could see myself working on Magnum, and I gave them the answer as to why I saw that, and that's how I got placed on my first choice of rides/areas.
However I applied online like the 1st or 2nd day they applications becam available to, so that's a very good way to get what you want.

2002 - Pet Farm ATL
2004 - Breakers Housekeeping Sup
2004/2005 - Lifeguard @ Castaway Bay
If you put in your application earlier (when they first come out) do you get a better chance of working a specific ride? Also if you get a ride that you dont like such as it is slow paced can you request to switch if there is any open positions?
A question for those who work on TTD, if the ride is broke is down for a while what do you do?
Cedar Point is no different than any other job. As soon as you start putting restrictions on what you will or will not do, your chances of being employed or staying employed will be significantly reduced.
