How Big is the Seat Belt?

Hey I was just wondering how big of a waist size can u have and still able to fit on TTD and MF?? I heard it was a size 46 am I right? Thanks.
My friend is 6'8" and has a 42 inch waist and was too big for MF,I think Dragster is smaller, but it may just be me.

I wear a 36 and I had the belt all the way extended but I was wearing a coat and sweatshirt which may have taken 2-3 inches.

I rode ttd and millenium force one after another, and I think the belts are EXACTLY the same size. Or at least pretty darn close. If anything, maybe TTD's was like half an inch bigger.

The seat belts seemed pretty short to me. I've taken off almost 40 pounds (about 8 inches around the waist) since last summer, when Millie's belts were pretty snug. I still had trouble this year with Millie and Dragster's belts this year. They seemed pretty snug, not to mention awkward and hard to snap if you're wearing a jacket. Then again, I'd rather be sandwiched into the seat if it means I'll not move when going straight down nose first.

I can't believe you can't fit on MF with a 42 inch waist. I've had a 42 inch waist for the last 6 years and I have no problem riding any thing. I hope they didn't change there belts. Anyone else out there have anything to say about this?
Im a snug 42" and I bearly was able to ride TTD. I rode MF later that day and the belt wasnt as difficult to get on as TTD was. Because of that and also me being taller this year, I cant ride WT or Chaos...(hiegt on WT, both on Chaos)

The problem with using waist measurements is that the seatbelt doesn't just go across your waist. It goes across your thighs. A person with a 42 inch waist could have a much smaller, or much larger diamater around their thighs.

The belts on MF and TTD appear to be identical in length from my point of view.

The belt does go across your thighs, not your waist.

Thanks Vanessa. I can't believe how long I have been saying the same thing. It isn't my waist that keeps me from riding. While my waist isn't exactly small, but smaller that some other posters in this thread, I have thick thighs and find it hard to fasten the belt on these rides because of this. It would help if the belt fastened more in the center, just to make it easier to cram the belt together. Sometimes it is difficult to get a hold of the small section of belt that holds the buckle since my large thighs are in the way, not that I can't fasten the belt, but it is hard to get a hold of.

The belts seem to be the same as MF. I do feel bad for people who are told they can't ride after finding that the belt doesn't fit. Last sunday I saw people leaving both rides because they were to large and to make matters worse people laughed. What kind of jerk would laugh at someone for being big? I'am not real big 5'11 230", and the belts on MF, TTD, WT are tight. I do agree that they are that way for safety reasons.
All of this talk is makin' me nervous about even trying to attempt to ride any rollercoaster at CP. I'm not THAT big, and since last semester I've lost over 50-60 lbs. and have dropped waist/thigh size considerably. Well, I guess they have test seats for a reason, no? It's not the safety bars that worry me (heck, I fit into any ride on my trip to California last year. Only problem was Batman, a lil' too snug if you ask me), it's more like I'm worried the belt won't stretch :/

I don't know if MF/TTD are the same, but on Superman at SFA (almost exact trains as MF) I noticed that the seatbelts in the second row of each car was slightly longer than the first row. I don't know if it's how they are attached to the train or not, but it was noticeable by me and a couple friends.
I am 6-3, 250 with a 38-40 inch waist. I can fit into Millennium Force just barely, sometimes I actually needed help from the employees. It is a pain in the ass to fasten that seat belt.

I couldn't fit into WT last Spring. And the guy told me not to feel bad because a lot of people with broad shoulders and a big upper body can't and he had to turn down at leadt 20 people that day already. I was at least 4 inches short of connecting that belt.

It does suck to be big when it comes to Amusement Parks. And while I don't see too many obese people at Cedar Point, I do think its unfair that some people can't fit into the rides.

Even on the magnum and gemini, my knees are right up against the car wall. And I don't even come close to fitting into the Mine Ride.

AND THIS IS JUST FROM BEING BIG, NOT FAT, JUST A BIGGER PERSON.

MF and TTD seat belts are exactly the same.

Okay, here is a concrete number for you...

From the edge of the seat to the end of the buckle the fully-extended belt is 28" long. I am not certain how high the other end buckle is above the edge of the seat.

To determine if you will fit, sit on a rigid chair. Measure from the top of the seat, across your *lap*, down to the top of the seat on the other side. If that distance is less than or equal to 28", you should have no trouble at all. If that distance is greater than 28", then you're not guaranteed not to fit, but you should probably try the test seat before waiting in line.

I took my measurement using the test seat. For reference, I have a 38" waist, I'm about 45" around the thighs, and I fit with no trouble at all.

Rideman,

What was your measurement on the chair test.

Did I miss something?

I measured the length of the adjustable end of the seat belt on the test seat, from the point where it crosses the edge of the seat to the end of the buckle at full extension and found the belt to be 28" long.

Because of a loose attachment bolt on the test seat (I don't have three hands), I was not able to measure the distance between the edge of the seat and the non-adjustable buckle end, however, the buckle end is very close to the edge of the seat.

Dave,

What I really ment to ask is if you ever did the chair mesurement you mentioned above to see how you measure out?

Oh. (user pulls out his tape measure)...it says here, "28-1/2 inches." Experience says that I have to extend the belt to its full length to fasten it, but can fasten it easily and could even cinch it down a few inches.

Thanks for the info. I am about a 31. MF was a tight fit last year.
