how bad was the storm at cedar point and sandusky and is there any damage

i want to know how bad the storm was there and was there any damage.

Ummm, well there were thunderstorms today, but no damage I don't think.

Also, you might want to post this in the General section of PB.

there was grape sized hail (i wouldn't say golf ball) and a tornado touched down about 11 miles away in Huron. Lots of lightning, high winds (gusting into the 40's i think) and rain.

That night I was trying to get to the parking lot and a tree had been knocked down across the road making it impossible to drive down (the small roads around behind the lot/louies etc

that's the second time ive seen large hail and severe thunder since March but ive been told this isn't out of the ordinary for the area.

The size of storm and its intensity was out of the ordinary for this area. I have not seem something that strong in Sandusky for years. As for the tornado, you might be thinking of the one in Clyde that was reported. I never heard any mention of one in Huron. Well, at least in the news paper. I can attest to the golf ball sized hail. We found a good bit of them once the storm had passed. Because of that hail, I now have to get a new hood, roof and trunk for my car. Some of my side panels were damaged as well.

Some parts of Sandusky were not hit as hard as others. The area my house is in was not nearly as bad off as the area where I was at during the storm. They are less than a mile apart.

I was driving from Cleveland's Playhouse Square to Toledo- down Clifton Avenue in Lakewood at about 9:45pm on Friday, and there were downed power lines, uprooted trees in the middle of the road and crashed into parked cars. There was a power outage in Cleveland/Lakewood as well.

As I 'barely' made it towards the Route 2 entrance ramp near Rocky River, I noticed a cop standing in the road with a flare- waving it. The road ahead was completely flooded. He was yelling at everyone to backtrack towards downtown where we'd be re-routed onto 90 East to 271 South to 480 West towards Sandusky.

The roads were gridlocked because not only was the Indians game called early- but the theaters had let out too. The hail mixed with the humidity was NOT a safe mix. It hailed non stop all the way to Sandusky and once I arrived there (almost midnight)...it was calm as can be!!

That definitely was one HELL of a storm.

Tornado warning in Sandusky until 7. How's the parks storm ready plan working out?

Watching the live cam it looked like most people took shelter. There was the usual idiots that stayed out and were running once it started raining. There may have been some hail with it as well, although the big hail appears to have dumped out of that storm just before it got to the Cedar Point peninsula.

Radar animation including Reflectivity and VIL (Vertically Integrated Liquid) which is a good indication of a hail core. The VILs are maxed out just NW of Cedar Point.
