Housing Question

Hey everyone. I'm John. I just found this site today, and I am so geeked. I am headed to CP to work as a games host on May 5. I am still in need of a roommate if anyone is interested. I'd like someone who has worked there before, but any will do right now. My question is....is it better to live on or of site for housing. Tell me what everyone thinks. I totally appreciate it. See ya at the point!!!

Welcome John....I guess I'll be seeing you processing in on the 5th too :) Anyways awhile back we had a thread on which would be best living on or of point http://www.guidetothepoint.com/thepoint/cpplace/thread.asp?ForumID=3&TopicID=820

If you just rummage back to like 3 months ago you would also find smaller dicussions on housing stuff.

Will May 6th ever arrive?????
Does anyone know if I should bring a small refrigerator and a little tv?
That all depends on where your living, i don't think gold's lets you have small refrigerator's but will let you have a tv, if you live in bayside or commons, theres already a full size fridge in the apartment for you, but sadly no tv:(
which means you'll just have to bring your own, the ones housing provide are terrible!!
When I lived in gold dorms I had a little refrigerator. However, that was back in '93 - things may have changed since then.
It also depends on if you have a car of your own and if you are gay or straight! (Sorry people but you all know it's true!!!!)If you have your own car it's great to live off the point, but at peak seasons you are not aloud to drive your car to the point due to lack of parking for everyone!! They do enforce it, or at least they did when i worked there from 90-94. YES, bring your tv, but cedars does not have cable, and finally, everyone knows that use to work there that cedars is where most of the gay male employees would live. I did live with a couple of gay roomates in the past and there was never any problems, so don't let that scare anyone.

Fridges are permitted in Gold

They are also permitted in Cedars. As for "parking ban" days, they started something new last year, where you could carpool. You were allowed to drive on point and park as long as you had 3 or more people in your car. I think that it was a big success. It also kinda acts as a new way to meet friends. If you dont have a car, there is always people practically begging you to ride with them. Trust me, i was one of those people being begged to ride in some random person's car.

Or if you HAVE a car you're one of the people begging random people to ride with you. Trust me, I know hehe.

Is the gay population still high at CP? I haven't been back to work (or play) at CP since 1990.

Sherlette
Yes Sherlette the population is still high. In fact it's higher from some sources I have. I think too many employees get wrapped up into that paticular topic. The truth is yes many live at Cedars, but also in Commons and Bayside. It seems like Cedars gets this label and it's ridiculas. Power Shower for example..lol.. I'm hoping to get off point and take the darn shuttle in the mornings. I'm going to leave my car home becausue frankly I won't be needing it. My VCR, Stereo, TV, CD's, so on are staying home as well because I truly don't see any value in having them. I thik the only two appliances your really going to need is a fan and fridge.
