Housing must haves.

What are the must haves when in housing?

I already know the basics like hygiene products and bed linings and food but what are some others you would suggest bringing?

Shower shoes(most definitely), laundry bag for dirty clothes, laundry detergent/dryer sheets, box fan or regular fan(if (not) in commons dorms), notebook, envelopes, stamps, alarm clock(most definitely), padlock for locker (if in commons dorms)

Probably already knew this but make sure you have your 100.00 deposit for housing which you’ll get back upon check-out if your room is clean and all furniture present in the room.
Also bring enough money for food and other items for 21 days before recieving your first paycheck. If you need anything else, let me know. I’m Jake10 on here.

Dude. You haven’t even gotten a call yet.

Doesn't hurt to know ahead of time. Better to be prepared than to be scrambling later.

I agree. My first year I worked there, I got hired first weekend in April, and I bought the stuff I was taking with me a month ahead of time; with the acception of my snack food & drinks which I waited until the last minute for those.

The best advice is not to over pack items. The rooms are small, and are shared between 2-3 other people. If you happen to know who your roommates are, correlate between you who is bringing the bigger items, such as the TV and mini fridge. Don't worry, Sandusky has all the major stores such as Kroger, Meijer, Walmart, Target, Dollar General, Kohls, Old Navy, etc. So, if you happen to forget something, there is a place to get it.

Earplugs. Unless you are a REALLY heavy sleeper.

You can rest assured that someone near your sleeping space will either:

a. be a door slammer, at random hours all through the night

b. be a partier, every single night all night

c. be the host of a rave with a 105dB sound system

d. snore like an open class motocross bike

Noise canceling headphones is a better, but pricier choice.

So with C. im guessing alot of people dont follow the quiet hours?

Not sure how it is now, but when I was there, they normally did at Cedars. Commons dorms, they did “for-the-most-part”. It’s very old, but if you are looking for quiet go with Cedars.

I think I’ll definitely try to go with Cedars. I’m not picky. Plus it’s just a short walk to work.
