Housing

[url][url]Hundreds of employees live in the park’s employee housing units. There are several types of acommodations

available on a space permitting basis. All housing is multiple occupancy, and rent is automatically deducted from employees’ paychecks.

Housing options include:

  • On Point Dormitories: These dorms are open from early June through Labor Day and are the least expensive option. Residents have from one to three roommates. Many employees without cars or who prefer to be closer to work choose these dorms.
  • Off Point Dormitories: These dorms are newer buildings and feature air conditioning and cable access. The cost is slightly higher and employees must either drive to work or take the employee bus that runs a regular route between the park and the housing units. Each room accommodates between three and four employees.
  • Off Point Apartments: These apartments house from eight to twelve employees each and include several bedrooms, a common living area, and a kitchen as well as air conditioning. These are the most expensive housing option but because of the conveniences usually fill up quickly.

      Life at the Point...Mind blowing!

The Apartments are not the most expensive Housing the Commons Dorms are.

Looks like it depends on which dorms you get also. The 1500 building of the Commons dorms are more expensive than the older ones. Right?

I have a question. How can they put 4 girls in a room (commons dorms) with only three lockers?

That just doesn't make sense to me at all.

      Because they can.

Are you aloud to purchase your own internet while living in the commons dorms? And if so what is the address for the commons forms (message that if you could.)

99er, I am aware that they can, since they are obviously doing it.

I was just asking why they were doing it, since part of the reason people like commons is for the lockers...to keep their belongings from getting stolen. So to put 4 girls in a room with 3 lockers seems a little silly to me.

      I wasn't looking for a sarcastic answer.

He wasn't being sarcastic... He was just being honest. You have 3 roommates.. simply because they can fit 4 to a room. The number of lockers doesn't matter, only the number of beds. Its as simple as that.

It is near impossible to get land internet... You are hooked in to the park phone system, and the cable is split so much that the cable is fuzzy. I am living in commons once classes are over, so i don't have to make the 45 min drive both ways. So what I did was get verizon mifi. Heres a link to the page and the two pricing plans. Im going to switch to the higher plan. http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/mobilebroadband/?page=products_mifi (The 39.99 plan is 250mb a month and the 59.99 is 5gb a month; it's worth the price for the higher, because the overage charges are out of this world... even cedar point food prices make the overage charges look good)

you could (god forbid me say this but) idk, go without internet for a few weeks..i know thats like a sin but i would never pay $60 just to have internet for a month...ridicilous??

Except I can use internet anywhere in the US. Like.... in the park? Plus the fact that I am going to eventually be in the IT field, it is nice to have internet at places that you just cant get it. Or at customers houses that are having trouble, and you need to download a driver or something else to get the computer system fixed.

Not to mention that Time Warner with Turbo Boost is just as much.

Well all i need to know is to use the phone in the dorms do you have to dial a certain number to get out or, can you just dial the number? If you can just dial the number to get out all I would need to know is the phone number for the dorm. And its not just me paying for internet it would be me and 3 other guys.

You have to dial 9, but the deal is, it is a trunk line with limited outside lines, shared with the park and the dorms. I have heard so far that sometimes you pick up the phone and there are no lines in or out. You are not aloud to tamper with the phone or even have an answering machine.

It wasn't a sarcastic answer as the person below you mentioned. You asked how they could, not why they do. The rooms are made for 3 people but they put 4 in them because they need the space and can. It's that simple. You could also ask the same question about the dressers. You don't see four dressers in the room do you? Their concern is where to put bodies, not where to put personal belongings.

Unless something changed this year, all Commons dorms are priced the same, regardless which building.

I've known people to get dial up internet connections using free dial up services before. Of course, your speeds are going to suck if you go that route. There's also spotty wi-fi in the lounges and the rec center. If you absolutely have to have internet, a wireless mifi plan with a cell phone company would probably be the best way to go. In that respect, it seems that Verizon has the best service in the dorms, and the Sandusky area in general.

or hang out @ Donut Time in the front of the Main Midway for free WiFi, glazed donuts & coffee. Mmmm...I can hear myself getting fatter.
