Housing

I'm not too sure how this goes, I've been hearing a lot of different things... But does anyone know exactly how long you can save someone a spot in your room at commons dorms? And then if you can rehold, and for how long?

Its 2 weeks, then you have to go re-reserve it.

How long is it at bayside?

That's really not cool... So if someone processes in 6 days after you (which is not uncommon), you're screwed.

That is so unfair. I process in April 29th. Everyone I know plan on rooming with are coming either the 4th/5th or one of them is the 13th.

Not necessarily. I imagine it depends if they have anyone who needs that spot. If there's still an open spot when your friend arrives, I'm sure there won't be an issue with it.

As I said in the other thread about this, people are on here boasting about being able to pretty much indefinitely hold an open spot in their room. With space being at a premium at some points in the season, it's not a surprise that they're cracking down on it.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

But is this exactly the right way to crack down? By punishing all employees, even the ones who have been great to CP? I agree that it's not fair that some people would hold rooms for people who didn't exist and I DO commend CP for trying to crack down on it. But I just don't think this is the right way.

Instead of making it 5 days, no renewals, it would be much better to instead have the person holding a spot have to give more information than just a name. Like work location, manager, date they process in, etc. SOMETHING more than just a name. If housing notices the room has been held for a while, or that person never checked in on their process date (or the process date has been changed multiple times to try and "beat the system"), then they can contact their manager to see what the deal is and if that person even exists. Hell, give them steps even just for lying.

It's really hard to find a roommate who is processing in within 5 days of you. Hopefully I'm able to.

Everytime I ever held a spot, I had to put a name, department, and process in date.

So, is the 5 days no renewal a rule for sure, or does nobody know yet?

My roommates are not coming until the end of May & beginning of June; with me processing in May7th.
